That was my best Silverstone in twelve visits. As a fan of Hamilton since his GP2 year when he won both races (and a lot of support) in great style, it was something of a roller coaster ride. When I get some time I will see if I have a good picture that includes Village stand. We were in Becketts which was well worth the long walk from the main entrance.
I found the new engines a great improvement on the V8s. No need for ear protection, the ability to hear tyres screeching through the challenging corners, the whistle of the turbos. The old Red Bull running in the 50th year celebrations to be quite a dinosaur in comparison and the GP2 cars were positively vulgar. Personally, I always found the benefit of being at a race was the chance to smell the cars rather than be deafened by them.
Traffic was kinder heading the other way... under three hours from the Northampton park and ride site to Yorkshire, which is about as good as you get on an average Sunday.
