Horizons Simple question about scanners for discovering objects

HI! I was told be an engineer to go look for "grid resistors" etc... that can be found on salvage from a signal source..

Is it the sensors that does this job alone and should I just upgrade the one I have? or should I also pickup a "Advanced Discovery Scanner" ?

ALso does the Advance discovery scanner replace sensors or is it an addon to the sensors?

The ship sensor can target any USS and can tell you what is going on inside, not other scanner needed for that.

The discovery scanners are additional scanners, used to figure out what kind of stellar bodies are in an unexplored system. If the system has a nav beacon you also can go there and scan it (the beacon, white target) with the ship sensors to get this informations.

Oh ok thank you :)

I think I may have to also do some mining soon too.. I was mining in the other game I was playing and wanted a break from it.. seems I will have to go that way again :)

Is there a big loss when we swap items for another? I have a cobra now but its more fitted for hauling than mining so I am wondering if I should swap items when I am ready or just buy another Cobra

There is no loss for swapping modules, so you can try things out as much as you like.

Selling the ships hull comes with a 10% loss though.

Killing police never is the best way for anything, it might be a faster way sometimes. Won't make you friends, that's for sure, and the whole things is based on your standings to others.

You are right. I do have bounty hunters after me all the time. But it is a faster way to get stuff.

I pick low Security systems for the slower response time for the Police reinforcements.

Cops drop some rare materials in good quantities.

oh, I prefer to not have bouties on me at this point.. perhaps later on :)

I often find Grid Resistors in wreckage and debris fields both in space and on planets. If you blow up an enemy ship, fly towards the swarm of WHITE targets and if you have limpets on board, send them out to collect these ship pieces. Often times you will get Grid Resistors along with other ship parts.

if you take planet based salvage missions, there is usually a couple of ship parts laying around along with the cargo canisters.
