[SIMPLE REQUEST] Add a MINUS when flying in REVERSE! (example: "-10")

Many times when I'm flying slowly in reverse, I can't rely on space dust streaking by to confirm because of the low speed. If only the instrumentations would tell me!
So, if you guys would be nice to simply add a "-" infront of the speed data when flying reverse, that would be GREAT!

Thanks!

When you're flying in reverse, the throttle bar fills from the top down, as if it is below the 0 line. When you accelerate forward again, the throttle bar will diminish back towards the top, reach zero, then will begin filling from the bottom.

If you look at the throttle bar in these images you'll see the differences between them. (apologies for the random pics..not at home to take my own)

Stopped: http://i.stack.imgur.com/QnZmW.jpg

I do think a "-" might make it clearer again, but once you get used to reading the bar it amounts to the same thing imo.

There is actually a slight lag to this and it may be hard to determine in a fraction of a second which direction you are trusting.

The HUD should give an indication of the direction of forces/acceleration affecting the ship at the moment.

But this is a space flight simulator and I do agree with the minus but maybe not a HUD notification. :)

I think it would be nice if the throttle bar changed color while in reverse. On hotas (or at least my X52), switching to reverse is toggled by a button press while the throttle stays in position. Sometimes I'll accidentally bump it mid-battle and not notice right away, especially at a glance. Switching to the alternative color when in reverse would pokeyoke the whole situation with reverse thrust, and eliminate the need to add space/change font size for a "-" character in front of the speed readout.

A minus sign might not be appropriate. What if you are going full speed forward, and turn off flight assist, then turn the ship around?

I would rather have indicators that show current velocity and vector, and the resultant force vector affecting the ship. The 3d model of the ship can be used for this.

Yes indeed. With flight assist off then a change to the ship hologram on the right side should change to something showing orientation against direction of travel.

/signed.

Also when using FA off I'd suggest pro-grade, retro-grade hud indicators. They had gimbals for that in the 60's.

That is, Sir, an excellent idea!

That's a terrific idea! I like it!

But I'm afraid Frontier will keep the colors the same..:-s

I think it fine the way it is. Having color change. With people adjusting cockpit colors it might not work so well.

I just tend to look at the Throttle bar throttle numbers Which give me a detail account if I am going back 5 or 25 or faster.

Other thing is if you are using a joystick. With a Throttle. Have Throttle set to Forward Reverse control. So you kinda get a feel for it.
