Since 2.1 launches today let's discuss 2.2

We all know that 2.2 brings ship launched fighters such as the condor. However, only certain ships will be able to carry them. My limited knowledge of the elite universe tells me that the condor has no FSD. So will those of us who fly a ship not capable of launching fighters still be able to purchase a fighter and cruise the planets within that system since it cannot jump? Or will it be like an SRV where the only way to buy one is to install it as a module on a Ship Launched capable ship?

You need the mothership, and presumably stay in the same instance. No cargo, and AFAIK no landing on planets.

As far as I know, the ship launched fighters won't be able to carry a SRV, maybe even landing on planets (not sure again).

Part of that discussion will be around SuperCruise. Can a fighter with no FSD enter SC, or is it only capable of Sub-SC flight?
In which case does Orbital Cruise count as SC speed factoring or not?

My suspicion will be they will be limited to space (normal) flight only.

I'm not a big fan of the keelback. I would use a Python but I'm not sure they can carry a fighter. Atleast I don't think it has been confirmed.

Keelback, FGS, T9, Conda, Corvette, Cutter. Keelback is a cheap launch platform with decent range so will have its use here. :)

Some thoughts on my preferences:
- I'd like the fighters to have supercruise capability and the ability to land
- Is there a confirmed list of ships capable of carrying internal ships? I see a list already. Is that confirmed?
- I have no problems with the fighters being incapable of carrying an SRV, kind of makes sense. Would be nice to have a new small cargo ship capable of taking an SRV to a planet. Just give it really bad combat capability. I see this being particularly useful at a much later date, when we'll hopefully be able to start colonising planets. My vision being that you take a seriously HUGE freighter (ie. bigger than a Cutter) out to an empty planet and need to ferry cargo/people/troops to the planets surface.
- What are the thoughts on control of your primary ship if you decide to go out in the fighter? Will it be possible to ask your primary ship to jump to another system and then call it back? Personally I don't feel comfortable with the idea of relying on an NPC to control the "expensive" ship whilst I'm out there in the (respectively) dirt cheap one, just doesn't feel quite right. More to the point, picture the outcry from some players when they loose a 400 million credit NPC controlled Anaconda whilst they're in a Condor. It won't matter if the NPC has been doing a great job, it'll still take the flak.

My hopes for 2.2, in order of importance:

1) Passenger missions.

2) Full multi-part missions.

3) Power Play overhaul.

4) Some of the bigger ships from earlier iterations of Elite (like the Panther, Puma, Lion & Tiger).

5) More PoI's of non-human origin (i.e. natural or alien), especially outside of the bubble.

6) volcanic planets (though in truth I expect that won't be until 2.3).

I am VERY MUCH looking forward to 2.2. Two my favorite ships to play in game are the Keelback and Federal Gunship, both of which sport a fighter bay.

My HOPE is that we won't need to use an existing internal slot to fit the fighter bay. Seems to me these ships are already fairly gimp because of that fighter bay.
