Now I don't know if this has been raised before but I remember them saying there would be stages of "updates" free of charge but that there would be new paid content post 2.4 so I was surprised to note that this beta is for v3.0 of Elite Dangerous. Therefore I am wondering exactly what we LEP purchasers are going to receive this "season / whatever" in return for our not inconsiderable (in my case anyway) outlay?

135% -12.5% including experimental effects. 130% without

Not what was promised. Sandro said the new blueprints would be better not worse. Please take some of my LP and invest in someone who plays the game and can give feedback on updates before you drop mega mess ups like this.

You're going to receive every additional DLC/expansion update/Season for no additional charge, nothing changes that. Beyond being free for everyone who already owns Horizons just means you'll have to wait a little bit longer to receive some premium content for free. You'll have your cake and eat it all in good time, the chef just needs some extra time to prepare it for you as he's currently busy serving some food for the plebs over at the soup kitchen ;)

Why do people think a reasonable enquiry is "paranoia" or needs to "calm down"? I am merely asking because I expected the beta to be for 2.5 and so when I see 3.0 I am left wondering if things have changed.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them making these updates free (I have other accounts you see). I am just wondering why my £120 in 2015 (in addition to my base purchase) has only covered me for one update in over 2.5 years of a supposedly 10 year plan. So I would be interested to know what this years "paid content" is supposed to consist of.

*sigh*

Not true. He said MOST would be better, but high-end superrolls would beat the new system. He said that multiple times, literally, explicitly and as clear as could be. He even recommended keeping your godroll modules in the latest stream. I agree something needs to be changed, but please stop making stuff up.

So I would be interested to know what this years "paid content" is supposed to consist of.

Noone knows. More paid-for stuff will come. Beyond is free. They decided to number it 3.x. It doesnt really influence anything, so dont worry.

Yeah, if the new system would be better in every way, they would not have grandfathered the previous modules.

But by the looks of ot the new system is not far behind on the bonusses, just has fixed penalties where you could get lucky on the old rolls.

If that £120 also covered the price of the base game you're up to £80 already - base game being £40 on release and Horizons also being £40 on release. You'll need one more update worth £40 and that will have fulfilled the £120 price tag you payed. Any subsequent payed updates after this are completely free icing on the cake.

For a 10 year plan of updates I'd say you got an incredibly fantastic deal seeing as how your £120 will potentially be fully covered in the 3rd to 4th year of the game. That means you're not even halfway to the full 10 years and your purchase will already have been fulfilled in terms of money spent for content delivered. I'd be fairly happy with that if I was around at the time when I could have gotten the LEP for £120.

Things have changed. Just not in a way that invalidates that Largely Expensive Purchase. For one, Frontier has said they're moving away from a "season" based model. For another, Beyond is free to everyone who purchased Horizons. It is more of a "Filling in the gaps" update than an actual update the way Horizons was. There will still be things to purchase, perhaps even later during Beyond, that LEPers will receive for their purchase. We just don't know what these will be at this time, but rest assured, you'll continue to receive your entitlements - and I don't mean that with any negative connotation. Now back to your colony. :) "LEPers.. ha..".

And how is any of us here supposed to know that ?
You will get whatever ED content FD publishes and whenever they do so, that's the deal.
Wait and see is all you can do, that's the drawback when buying cats in bags.
