Since when was toxic waste still in the game?

D
I thought it was removed lol.

But I entered an SS today to find a wrecked Type-9 surrounded by the stuff. I count at least 15 canisters.

Last time I saw it was in a very old training mission no longer in the game.

And was that a geiger counter I heard crackling as I got near it?

Nice.

Don't suppose you remember the USS type? Or the system?

I know you can get Chemical Waste from the Jameson crash, but Toxic Waste...

I've found toxic waste in signal sources around Obsidian Orbital more times than I can count. Usually a Threat: 3.

Problem with that stuff is it's neither terribly valuable or terribly useful.

There needs to be less valuable cargo to to have a noticeable contrast to valuable cargo, or the chance to roll a one with a die. But cargo with side effects can be interesting like the Thargoid sensors etc showed. Selling Biowaste has an effect on the faction, selling toxic waste should as well (if it doesn't yet).

Always been in the game... was listed on every single "Illegal Goods" listing.

Frankly, it needs to be used more, and more toxic items need to be in the game.

There needs to be missions shipping hundreds of tonnes of the stuff. Might actually make hauling interesting.

Actually, it would be cool to have missions to haul this stuff, from stations and outposts to planetary installations for disposal. Would make for some interesting missions, especially if they were of some suitable range.

Great for ejecting in stations to "bomb" them though. [haha]

There is that, or ejecting during combat when you've got someone on your 6. But the overall usefulness is somewhat limited.
