Yes, on 29 July you'll be able to do all those things.

With other humans.

Oh yes, fun it will be. Yes.

The missions are just single player, and were part of the initial alpha release last December. Essentially they were a test of the flight model, get that wrong and there really isn't a game.

When the 29th comes you'll have (if it's the same as now) a new menu choice saying "multiplayer". Pressing that will drop you in a sidewinder somewhere in space, most likely by a station.

What you do next is up to you, and limited pretty much by your own imagination.

You can shoot things, you can trade things, you can sightsee. No confirmation yet on mining/salvage.

Currently there are locations you can fly to to have a fight (like Factions) where you can align with or against humans as you wish.

Remember, the ships you see then won't just be an AI but some will be your fellow players.

Question for anyone who knows whats up. I am doing the single player mission SUPPLY STRIKE where you take out the Anaconda. Problem is he jumps out every time I get him below 10% hull. I want to add that I AM WITHIN 200M of him and he is jumping out. WHAT?? Uh Mass Lock anyone? How the hell is he jumping out when you cannot jump or enter SC that close. At least that is the way it says it works and always has worked. Is this a known bug or what? Thanks. :S

Currently super cruise is possible when mass locked, but the mass causes a slow charge. I don't know if that's staying.

I don't think the Anaconda is supposed to jump in supply strike though! You could try aiming for his frameshift subsystem and see if you can stop him!

I just completed "Supply Strike" in the current version of the single player scenarios after four or five attempts.

I found that he'll jump if he gets the chance. It's very frustrating.

What worked for me was to stay on his six and use lasers to bring his shields down. Once they're down, unload some missiles into his rear section and continue with the lasers. This will only get him down to around 20% hull, though. To finish him off, I boosted past him and attacked from top/bottom, landing laser fire and missiles on his front section and flanks.

did you try "subsystem targeting" already?
it's possible to destroy an Anaconda by targeting the power plant before the hull reaches even 30%. Maybe it won't jump then...no idea what triggers it.
I have to admit that i only played the Alpha 1.1 version of the scenarios, which were very different in AI behaviour.

I tried that but it didn't work for me. YMMV, though.
