Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I’m just starting out with exploration and engineering. Does reping up with Sirius Mining Merope get me rep with Sirius Corp? Obviously I want the Sirius permit. I’m in Maia having bought a Meta Alloy for Farseer. I have some exploration data to sell after travelling here, and I notice they’re right next door in Merope, so was thinking I’d sell it to them?

No, if it has a different name, it's a different faction.
If you want to "farm" rep, though, I think Sirius Corp. is around Sothis as well as Sirius itself.

While that makes "logical sense", unfortunately, the interconnections between the fifteen different "Sirius-named" corporations are entirely lore-based. As far as the game itself is concerned, they are all separate rival factions.
You need to rep up with "Sirius Corporation", which is in Sirius itself, several surrounding systems, and at a few stations along the Sothis Spur. Their inara.cz database entry lists all systems where they are present. I believe Avik and Procyon are considered the best places to actually try to obtain the permit. Be aware that while you can build rep with Sirius Corp anywhere where they have a presence, they only give out the permit from systems within 15 LY of Sirius itself.
Procyon is where I got my entry permit, be aware that like Sirius its companion star is a White Dwarf which can lead to issues.
