Sirius permit after 2.4?

Greetings Commanders.

I got my Sirius reputation to Allied just before 2.4 and the permit mission popped up quite a few times while I worked on that, but naturally I was unable to get it. After hitting Allied I've never seen it since.

I've been doing Sirius missions in Procyon, Luyten's Star and Avik, hopping between open and solo, relogging, praying to RNGesus, all the usual stuff but it just won't appear. I've already got most of the modular terminals as well, so this is extra frustrating since I'm still 2 stupid RNG elements away from being able to hand them over.

Now I know this scenario is pretty common but I was wondering if anyone has managed to get the permit after the update? Knowing that there is no new bugs preventing the mission from spawning would give me some peace of mind.

Welcome to the forum!

I received my Sirius permit before the patch, so I can't speak to that part of your question... However, if I had to guess I'd say you're just being unlucky with the RNG aspect of that permit mission. I know for me it took a long time of jumping around between stations before it showed up. My guess is that's what's going on with you, too.

Hopefully someone can chime in and say they've gotten it post-2.4 so as to put your mind at ease. :)

Be interesting to know if anyone has got any engineer invites after 2.4, there's a few bug report threads for Sirius, Liz Ryder (mine) and some other engineers.

Interesting, according to the patch notes these permits and invites are supposed to show up more reliably now. You might want to report it as a bug.

Hey Yowl, I've actually been quite lazy with Sirius and the Engineers over the past year. Received my Sirius & Tod the blaster permit after 2.4 dropped. I was already allied with Sirius, flew down there and hauled some cargo for Sirius in a neighbouring system, got my permit, also Tod & Selene's unlocks in yesterdays session, took around 4-5 hours to unlock everything.

I'm exactly the same boat (playing on PS4). Permit mission showed up plenty of times when I wasn't allied yet. Got allied the day 2.4 came out and haven't seen the mission yet. Have been to Procyon, Luyten's Star and Avik, to their all bases, planetary and orbital, multiple times over the past few days. Tried hopping between open/solo/private mode to refresh, tried doing additional missions, donations, all to no avail. Gonna try once more tonight and if that does't work I'll create a support ticket.

Thanks, I guess I'm just unlucky then. Gonna keep trying.

Gotta take the opportunity to say this is just horrible game design. Grinding the rep to Allied was completely fine but spending 10+++ hours to get the mission to spawn is so frustrating I don't even feel like playing anymore. Getting the reputation should give you the permit automatically or at least the mission should always be there. Stuff like this being completely RNG is not okay. I'd be fine with the reputation grind being 5x as long but this mission lottery is just sloppy.

Thanks, so not everyone affected then. hard to believe its just a question of RNG, what would be the point.

I havent been able to get the Sirius permit or the Marco Qwent mission for 3 days since i've hit allied with Sirius Co. running data missions in Ceos and Sothis, and even the fed rank up mission. Having missions like this spawn based on RNG is something that is .. well .. rather dumb to be honest. If people qualify for the mission by clearing the requirements why do they need to wait till the mother of all RNGs gives them a bit of love? I'll board hop a bit more but i sure hope somebody at frontier decides to make the spawns for these missions 100% instead of 0.00000127%.

For the Marco Qwent mission, I think you can only get that in the Sirius system.
I think the permits work in a similar way too, in that you can't get them at every station that the faction is present in. I was grinding faction reputation for a permit a couple of days ago; despite them controlling the system, I never saw the permit mission being offered once while I was grinding. I moved to another system and got it immediately. I doubt you'll ever see the Sirius permit offered in Sothis or Ceos but should be able to get it quickly in some of the systems near Sirius.

I have the Sirius permit but just couldn't get the Marco Qwent invite..
I ended up selling my modular terminals (I didn't have the full amount anyway) and have just headed off in to the black for a while.
All rather annoying to be honest but oh well. Maybe next patch.

Permit missions are only available in systems where the giving faction is present within 15Ly of the permit locked system. All the systems the OP lists should be candidates.

I just got my permit a few nights ago actually. Here is what I recommend.

Do about 9-10 Road to Riches scans and you should have about 9mil worth of scans to sell off.
Go to Avic and sell off all of your scans. It is controlled by Sirius Corp. and will rocket your standing with them and you should be able to get the permit. You should almost go straight to allied.

Worked like a charm for me!

Have you "discovered" Marco Qwent by having Elvira Martuuk open and leveled to at least 4?

I bought a second account a few months ago, and while trying to open up Marco, i ran into this problem. i got the Sirius permit, waited and hopped from station to station in Sirius, board flipping for 20 mins at each location for 3 days straight and finally realized i hadnt "discovered" Marco thru Elvira yet....

did that, went back to Sirius and Marco mission was waiting for me.

I know somebody who got their invite for Palin a couple of days ago.

I know it's a different thing but I guess it would suggest engineer-invites ARE still happening, at least.
