Engineers Sirius rep in Procyon - Davy Dock

Commanders,

So here I was, thinking to be well prepared, assuming selling the exploration data from scanning everything in Col 285 Sector CX-J c9-8 would be enough to get me allied with Sirius.

Well... . Not only did it not get me allied, it didn't actually give me any rep at all.

I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation for this but all I can think of is that it's because the system is contested?
It's my first time selling exploration data so I'm not sure how this would usually work but I reckon I should've gotten the rep with the faction with the most influence?

Honestly there's a lot I don't yet know about ED yet and all I'm trying to do for now is get my Vulture engineered.

If anyone can explain so I can avoid this in the future - please!
Possibly another way to get rep with Sirius fast too if it's not too much to ask?

Three possible reasons:

1). Sirius corp wasn’t the controlling faction?
2). Lag time for the update, mode switch or restart with better results?
3). Bug - sorry

There's also bounty hunting and trade. BH'ing only works best if Sirius is the controlling faction, for trade you have to sell to a station they control. Around 7 million should do it.

I turned in 40+ mil of exploration data into them to get allied. Might have been overkill I'm not sure, but I think you need to turn in more then just a systems worth.

Since I'm at work now I can't check but I'm sure the word Sirius was in the controlling faction's name. It might be there's more factions having Sirius in their names yet not being Sirius Corp itself? I'll check when I'm home tonight.

An important aspect of this mission is to not block access to the engineers. We have set aside the Procyon system where you can gain all the Sirius Corp rep you want. Davy Dock is a station in the Procyon system which is controlled by Sirius Corp, it doesn't have a black market, therefore it cannot be UA bombed.

Our suggestion to gain Sirius Rep quickly is to go to Col 285 Sector CX-J c9-8 and scan everything (bring a detailed surface scanner) there. Along with scans on the way you should have enough exploration data to get allied with Sirius Corp instantly if you sell it at Davy Dock.

This was after finding out Avik (in which I planned to BH in to get my rep) turned out not to be Sirius controlled anymore.

Finding a quick way to get allied with Sirius so far only made it all take a long time [noob][noob]
