Size isn't everything !

It seems to me that this game is more fun in a small cheap ship that is modified to the teeth than it is in a better ship with no modifications.

I just sold my hauler, I had invested half a million cr in it, new hull, new reactor, new power router, new thruster, chaff, heatsinks... it was a beast, was killing npc vipers and cobras with it hahahaah, and anything I didn't want to fight was left for dust boosting FA off then chaff and heatsink, just float away.

But it was actually more fun to fly than the stock Cobra I have bought, it could boost quicker, was more agile and just a lot of fun. Now I am on the grind again to get this Cobra back up to spec I wish I had kept my trusty hauler, I had developed a bond with it :(

:DYeah i have spent a fortune on my Sinclair C5 so i know where your comming from. Thinking of upgrading to a Reliant Robin though so that i can get my shopping done in one hit.

Cheers Konig

I'm impressed, most of us just use the hauler as quick upgrade in getting the Cobra. Must admit the prices for a new fsd for the Cobra is 1.6 million. Makes me wish I had kept my hauler now.:D

Haaa same with cargo, size isn't everything I made enough for a Cobra in about 4 hours with it even with just 10 cargo slots, didn't use it to do simple cargo drops, it's much better to do the "fetch me some of this" type missions, I fill up with like 10 missions+ , then just fly round the various stations, check the list when you get there against what they have, I got around 180k for 7 Palladium for example if the right person wants it :) So whilst I may never reach the dizzy heights of 500k profit drops lijke a lakon, I wasn't doing too bad with it :)

After the 16th I plan on rapidly working my way up to a Cobra and sticking with it for a very long time. Gradually trading and exploring my way across the galaxy as I slowly save up for an Asp, and buying any upgrade for my Cobra if and when I come across it. I'll most likely have a fully upgraded Cobra by the end of it, but I don't plan on trading it in for the Asp, I'll store it and only buy the Asp when I have at least 10 million credits saved up.

Yes you are right, I did have enough cr and probably should have just stored the hauler instead. I mean what's the point of pimping a ship, looking for all the upgrades then just selling it :)

I like that the ships have enough separate character for people to become attached to them, and that they're not only a stepping stone to bigger and better ships, but rides you want in and of themselves. There can only be more added to this ship variety imo; go wider with the selections and not so much taller.

I'm still cruising in my Sidey exploring, running the occasional mission and taking on anyone with less that an Asp who decides to interdict me :D

The great thing about a Sidewinder is that the majority of people underestimate you. A skilled pilot is a great threat in a Sidewinder.

Can you upgrade a Sidewinder enough to make it a useful 2-purpose ship? Like shipping + exploration or shipping + mining?

You can grab a sidewinder and really just go have fun in it. It doesn't matter if you die in it. Throw it around and cause trouble in it, take it to an excavation site and just lay waste to all or die trying. It's so fun!

Shok.

isn't this the point of the game though? Imagine what your tricked out cobra will be like

The point of the game is to Play Spaceman. And that's totally doable in any of the ships we have available. There are larger and more capable ships specwise, but there's no progression race to the top unless you decide there's one for yourself. You could stay in the Sidey for as long as you like if you're fine with its opspecs. It's a fun little ride, especially trying to see how much you can do with it.
