The new err, 'content', inspired me today, I won't actually say how, because, spoilers... But anyhoo.
NPC Retaliation Behaviour
I always found it odd, if you accidentally tag a clean ship, say a miner in a RES, they quite rightly, retaliate.
However, they continue to do so for, well, forever. As if they hold a grudge forever. Lol
You can retract hardpoints, fly off, and they follow you, still shooting you, and don't go back to what they was doing until the other ship jumps out, or explodes.
What would be more realistic, is if you don't return fire, after you've initially aggravated them, and maybe maintain a certain distance, they will return to what they was doing. At least once anyway, if you try it again, they don't. But in their eyes, they've "scared you off", and don't see you as a threat anymore.
For instance, miners would simply turn back fron red to orange and return to mining.
Traders and other non combatants at nav beacons, would fly off and jump out.
Also, In general, more non-combatant ships should also priorities fleeing, rather than retaliation, maybe based on the attackers ship and rank (from both NPC and CMDR attacks).
You'd still have to face security for your assault bounty. But if you're in a HAZ Res, or CNB with no security, you don't actually have to leave anymore because of that stay missile or NPC SLF blunder.
Just a thought!
