Dinosaurs Skin system idea that could bring more variety and satisfy the need for movie skins

Your Feature Request / Idea
I did a similar post while ago but now I think I have come up with a system that could actually work.

So as we know we have skin options based on different extant animals that give our dinosaurs different color palettes.

Let's look at the Brachiosaurus. We have the basic skin coming from Rana catesbeiana, the american bullfrog. It's dull gray. When we want to change its color we select, let's say, the wetland cosmetic gene, which is light green and yellow with darker shades of brown coming from Varanus niloticus (Nile monitor). The cosmetic gene gave us access to a different color palette. So far so good.

My idea is to introduce genes for different patterns also coming from animals. The null pattern gene would be again Rana catesbeiana. Selecting this in combination with the cosmetic genes would give us the dinosaur as we know it now.

Now let's say we had a pattern gene from the Masai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchii). We would select this in combination with the wetland cosmetic gene and the result would be a spotted Brachiosaurus with the colors from the wetland cosmetic gene. The same thing with for example with a pattern gene from a Tiger (Panthera tigris) would result in a striped Brachiosaurus with the wetland colors.

As the cherry on top there could be the option to change the color of a certain body part by choosing another one from the list of colors available from the cosmetic genes.

You have the wetland colored, tiger-striped Brachiosaurus, but you want it to have blue instead of yellow stripes? You change the color of the stripes to blue coming from the rainforest gene. You'd then be able to save your custom skin for later use.

Customizable body parts could be:

Head/ornament (brow ridges crests, frills etc.), eyecolor, Body, Pattern and Belly (List can be expanded for even more customizability)

Each change would decrease viability and increase the price of the dinosaur by certain amounts. Needless to say we'd need an option to preview how our dinosaur would look.

You see where I'm going with this? We'd get a huge increase in variety and even if we won't get actual movie skins we would be able to kind of recreate them in a lore friendly way. Also we could experiment and - as in my example- create totally new pattern/color combinations without them being to outlandish because we'd still be bound to the palettes offered by the cosmetic genes.
This could be part of an entertainment focused DLC, in which Isaac Clement is working together with Dr. Wu to make the dinosaurs more interesting for the guests by means of genetic engineering.

Would be very nice! Not sure how much work it would take though... Seems like something that would need a great deal of effort and a complete rework of the current skin situation.

Well I guess it would actually need a considerable amount of work, which is why I thought it could be part of a DLC. I doubt something like this would be released for free. But the increased creative freedom could justify paying money imo.
