Skins and logos would bring real money, you know?

Elite Dangerous is a great game and the more money Frontier gets, the better its development should be.
I, as well as almost any other player, would love to make my ship look unique and would not mind helping financing the game. Unfortunately I am not satisfied with any purchasable paint for the simple reason that they are not unique. Also, why would I buy a paint for a ship which i will replace soon or later by another ship?

What I would like to see is:
- A design which, once purchased, may be applied to any ship (I know, more work to be done by the designers before making a new ship available but hey, we talk about real money here!)
- This design can then be customized but moving sliders changing the hue of some areas. Since the final design is a combination of color values for specific areas, it would be easy to generate the right colors seen by remote players in the same instance when they would see the customized ship.
- As a separate purchase, a logo (let's say a PNG or vector file) could be uploaded by the player to Frontier servers. After review and approval (because anything obscene or offending should not be seen in the galaxy) it would be possible to apply the logo on the ship. (I know, a lot of logos submitted means a lot of work for the team to review and approve them but hey, it would also be a lot of real money).

On a side note, there have already been some posts suggesting to bring for free some Federation/Empire/Alliance logos, accessible after getting some ranks or being allied with the faction. I agree this would be great as well.

Said it before, will say it again. "Approving" player submitted designs is *way* faster and cheaper then creating one from scratch.

Selling them, with a cut of profit for the designer, would possibly be more profitable, simply because there will be so many skins on the market. I WANT to buy more skins, but there are simply no skins to buy for my ships...

There are, however, a million threads like this one now, so I suspect that if Frontier have noted at as a direction, they would have said something by now.

Z...

Anything would be nice actually..

What are they working on I wonder.
Everyone is flying Vultures and Anacondas, and not a skin to be found...

I'd like to second the custom skin option.

Agree, good proposition.
I could pay to have possibility to get my own skin or my own logos/decals (of course approved by fd)

Elite should have a paintshop in outfitting. Doesn't have to be very advanced.
4 layers, 3 of colors and 1 for decals with sliders for the colors of all things.

I'd even pay 2-5 pounds real money for access to it.
