Just a quick blurb on myself. I've been playing Elite since the original days of the Commodore 64 in 1984. It was an amazing game, everyone in my high school computer class wanted to play it. I've essentially been waiting 30 years for a truly worthy successor to come along and it appears Elite Dangerous is the one. This project looks amazing and I can't wait until the finished Gold product is released.
My question is, I downloaded and installed the Premium Beta last night with no problems. However, I was a bit disappointed to see that I would need to play through the combat missions again before moving on to anything else. Is this truly required or is there a way to by-pass the combat missions and go to the next stage? It took me a while to get past the first five combat missions in the Alpha phase, I hope I don't have to go through them again.
Once again, this is an awesome game so far. I can imagine it will only get better as the project progresses.
