Astronomy / Space Sky at Night

Minti2

Deadly, But very fluffy...
Good news for all who campaigned for it :)

The sun will not set on the The Sky at Night after the BBC announced the long-running science show would move to a new slot on BBC4 following a petition signed by 40,000 viewers who feared it would be axed.

Yep good news indeed, joined the FB support group when it was feared they may not renew, they certainly worked hard getting that petition signed........and on a tangent it was announced today Walking Dead is getting a 5th season, so twice as happy! ..............but no zombies in space :( :p

As A Dutch viewer I am rather happy about this: I was already watching the BBC4 version since the last year or so. It generally was a lit longer and more in depth. Too bad we won't see the HD version anymore (Here we don't have BBC4 in HD only BBC1 and 2).

So nothing much will change for me I guess. Here's hoping the PVR programming will remain the same so I don't have to chase it.

Very glad to hear it. I campaigned too (there was another thread about this in the forums).

Oh, and you be wanting this if you want zombies: http://minmax-games.com/SpacePiratesAndZombies/

I just hope they find a decent presenter for it. It really didn't work well too many chiefs.

Patrick Moore will be a difficult act to follow. Brian Cox hasn't got the gravitas, eccentricity or monocle.

How about Collin Pillinger, for the West Country accent if nothing else?

Let's just hope the lower viewing figures on the new channel don't affect the Beeb's thinking.

Personally, I always recorded the show with Sky+ because it was on at such an unsociable hour. Does someone at the BBC think because astronomers work during the night, their show also has to be shown at night?

Having said (typed) that, I'm looking forward to Astronomy Live :)
