General / Off-Topic Skype has stopped working

On the off chance. For users of SKYPE. Have you ever been faced with this message: "Skype has stopped working" during a session, or even at the startup of the application. And if so, have you found a solution to use Skype again? (Because even uninstalling and reinstalling does not solve the problem).

All your solutions that you applied are welcome for test.

:)

Just for testing purpose try to start Skype with the old (legacy) login screen.

Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes. Open C:\Program Files\ folder. If you have 64-bit Windows then it should be C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder. Find the Skype folder and then Phone. Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now: "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" (or with (x86) if you are on 64-bit Windows). Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read:

In the case of 32-bit system
"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /legacylogin

In the case of 64-bit system
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /legacylogin

He just called in from the Isle of Skye
He disnae skype 'cause he's affy shy
The techies shout as they drive by,
"Pskokow where yer webcam?"

I'll be honest here, I'm not a massive fan of Skype myself, only using it because 90%+ of the few online communities I'm part of use it heavily. Admittedly I do have 2 accounts though - one for family & friends, and the other for online stuff.

Skype Chorus

My house gets the Skype Chorus. This is the ringing echo of umpteen children Skyping in conference while charging about a single Minecraft server.

You guys should use mumble.. its open source, encrypted as default and its streets a head of skype for voice comms. Plus all your calls and chats aren't going direct via NSA HQ.

Sorry, I didn't quite catch that. What was it called?

What? And deprive NSA of conversations like -

"Where shall we put the bomb?"
"Die, Feds, die!"
"Anyone know where I can acquire a surface-to-air missile?"
