Skywanderers.. A huge voxel space game that looks very promising

I'm hoping that there will be some point to it. As someone that played Sky Saga off and on I was worries about the games over emphasis on building with little no development on the questing side. I mentioned this to one of the devs on Steam and was told not to worry, that stuff was in the works. A month or two later it was canned and development ceased.

I hope this game has more to offer than simple Lego otherwise I will get bored of it very quickly. I like to have some point to what I am doing.

A few things.

All items shown are customisable ingame. Not sorted how you do that yet, but I'm getting there. ;)

Edit: a little flight. There is no flight model as such in at the moment, so its just a basic flight to get around.

I really, really hope will will see a Ringworld like that (2nd video at 1:30) in ED one day.
That would be so awesome.

It could be an ancient alien artefact.
Imagine being able to fly into the atmosphere of the ring and landing there and discovering alien flora and fauna, but also technology, ancient city ruins. Or there might be machines trying to keep everything in pristine condition with the resources they have.
And there could also be docks on the outside of the ring.

It would be magnificent.
I would travel to the other side of ED's galaxy just to be able to see that.

That would be a cool mystery.

- "hide" a ringworld in the middle of the other side of the galaxy in one system.
- Unknown makers (not humans, thargoids or others, something unknown)
- Treat the ringworld as a planet (just flat an circular)
- Add alot of completely unknown ruins and weird stuff completely out of this world simply as a mystery nobody understand

Then we do the same thing with a dyson sphere around a sun that became a black hole (structure is far enough away to stay whole but with a black hole in the middle)
We then treat the sphere as an inverted planet with lots of alien ruins instead and more artificial terrain

A few things.

Thanks for the video. That was really interesting. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but hope to tonight. Hopefully it could become as extensible as Minecraft is. I can imagine the mods that could come out for this.

Don't forget. Its all just bare bones and placeholders this early. Who knows what will be in the game at release. A very long way off yet. The game however is a time eater, very enjoyable even in its early state. Ships are time consuming to build and a pain to save at the moment (hit and miss). So I'm not building anything of value for a while. Just messing around, its great fun.

Spending lots of time in Skywanderers here, getting used to the build process etc.
Just a quick video of some travel, from planet to planet. Still very, very early yet. But shows great signs.
Its very satisfying travel, even this early on.

I've been playing, or testing, SkyWanderers alot of late. Must say I'm enjoying it much more than Space Engineers at the moment. That said, SE is a great game too.

I like the indepth feel of the game, trying to figure out all the parts required to complete something. For now, I've basically taken a ship I built in SE and put a version of it into SW. That way, if there is a reset, I've not really lost anything new.

I still have loads of work to do in this ship. Whether I do that, or not, before a reset is known or not, well I'm not sure.
There-again there is lots more to learn yet. Just scratching the surface really.

Got to put my 2.6km long ship in there, just to see how it handles size...
