Slave supply while prohibited!?

Greetings,

i found a station today, where Imperial Slaves are for sale AND prohibited...does this make any sense? Is there a hidden gameplay reason for that?

p.s. there is a black market too, but they dont take them ;)

There are a few places like that, i think it is something that has been missed. Which is understandable, with over 400 million systems to think about.

Powerplay overrides local jurisdiction. So there are imperial slaves available because the power, associated the system allows them. But the controlling local minor faction prohibits them. So you can buy them, but will get shot on sight, when you leave the station.

all of Pranav's systems are completely mangled like this. Stations buying items that the "consumed by" text for that item explicitly states are not consumed there, stations selling and buying items that are prohibited not only at the faction level but for the government / economic type that the particular station is. It's rampant.

this is most definitely powerplay related and doesn't seem intentional. While it should be expected that powers will alter traded goods, the base rules should apply regardless. So the option is the power changes the station so it's legal to sell those items or they dont sell those items.

the logic surrounding that is just stupid though. How can you be a controlling faction when your laws are being ignored.

If a power wants to bring in the slave trade to their stations, then they can't be allied to federation or whatever faction prohibits them. It should be either-or.. Not both.

No, i did it and got a fine (2kk for 440 saves)

If I remember it correctly there was the option to buy them on commodities market and sell them on black market. The current behaviour is imo a workaround for that "exploit".

ok. 2kk is 2 000 000 ? that's cheaper than being blown:)

Yes, it is 2 000 000. And it is even cheaper if you wait for 24 hours till it is a bounty, buy a sidewinder and selfdestruct. In the meantime, you are able to shamelessly accumulate fines and sell slaves ( i can confirm this, because i did it for..... uhm....testing.... Yeah! For Science!). You just have to deal with the feeling of guilt.... If you are the honest type ;)

In the United States, several states have legalized the sale and consumption of marijuana as a controlled substance, even though the federal government still considers it highly illegal. Or, you take alcohol: there are towns and counties in the U.S. in which alcohol is banned, even though the next town or county over allows it. So, think of it like that: you have a central power ruling many systems with many different practices.

It is outlandish, sure, but not without real-world precedent.

Yes but the situation here is like the police is selling the drugs at commom market price and arrest you, when leaving the police-station.

It's possible that the system in question has recently had a change in the controlling faction from one that supports such sales to one that doesn't. This is certainly the case in a similar system that I came across. There is also a discrepancy between the Allegiance and Government data as shown on the Galaxy map and the same data on the System map, so it might be worth checking these too.
