So I went down to Morgor. Got a mission to deliver 2 stolen slave canister (normal ones, not imperial). They are quite easy to find, just let yourself be interdicted and blow up the pirate - he drops slaves most of the time (maybe just my luck, but happens quite often). So then I go back to the station and visit a USS on the way. A guy in a Type-7 tells me I am a bad man and I should abandon the mission and some of his friends in Bolg can help the slaves an pay me.
No idea what to do now, there does not seem to be any option in the transaction tab, but the original mission text is overridden by the do-gooders message. I know that being good does not pay, so I head back to Morgor's station, to get my 45K and sell the additional slaves at the black market. Surprise surprise, the option to give cargo is red. The guy says something about the doctor having to examine the slaves. So I sell all the other booty I have and head to Bolg. Sneaking into the station went ok. Nothing slave-related on the bulletin board in the station, so I go to the transaction tab and abandon the mission. Suddenly a new one pops up to hand over the slaves to the do-gooders. Ok, mission complete, I got 890 credits.
However, the slaves are still in my cargo hold. No additional items on the board about slaves, same in the next station. Guess I was played for a fool. Oh well, sold them all at the black market.
Now this is just wrong. This could have easily been a very immersive mission - pirate turned do-gooder and all. Instead I had completely no idea how to proceed and in turn, though completing the assignment, from a plot standpoint, nothing was achieved.
What should have happened is:
- I meet the guy, he tells me to abandon the mission. I should not have to click 'abandon' - it's very confusing. Did that once with some cargo transport and not only did I not get paid, but got a fine from the original faction.
- I should have an option to follow the new plot, or continue with the old one, and the mission description should change.
- If I choose to sell the slaves to the pirates, they should not tell me to wait indefinitely.
- By no means "freeing" the slaves should mean I still have them in cargo and now have to sell them.
