Slaves, can I let them go somehow?

Soooo a wanted ship dropped a couple of cans of imperial slaves which my morality forced me to pick up rather than let die in the cold and lonely dark of space, I now have 2 units of them that I'd like to set free, is this at all possible or is my only option to discard them or sell them on the black market?

Some stations have missions to liberate slaves, they don't give you money but they do give you rep.

I'm not sure if that's only in federation space.

This has been brought up time and again since beta. As of right now, there is no way to free slaves. There have been responses from Micheal and the DEVs that it is something they are taking a look at, since so many of us find slavery distasteful.

I killed a wanted criminal in federation space and he left a unit of human slaves. Just before this incident I sold my only cargo rack... This was the hardest moment of my entire time playing Elite because there was no way for me to save them.

not only are you trafficking slaves, but they are stolen too.

If you have the mission and found slaves, won't you still get in trouble if you get scanned by security?

Imperial slaves are not slaves the way most people think.

They are not whipped.
They are not forced to do manual labour until they expire from exhaustion.

They are, infact, paid for their work.
Many imperials voulenteer into slavery to earn their way back to life rather than live in debt.

Empire has no beggars in the streets because the slavery system ensures that everyone can make their way back to their former lives.

In fact, slavery in empire is more akin to what we would call indentured servants.

Federation however, has no system to handle beggars, illegal slavery and other things, so the bottom of the Federation society is a truly a cesspool.

Which is why I stand by the statement "Better dead than Fed".

Simply set target to the nearest star. Fly very close....when the screaming stops, they are all gone. Remember to sweep out the dust.

Yes you will still get scanned and in trouble with security. Also if you find Slaves they are marked as Stolen and can only be sold on the Black Market. No completing a mission sadly. You have to buy slaves for that.

The game makes you be a horrible person. Find slaves? Vapor or sell them to someone who will abuse them. Want to set slaves free? Buy them and encourage the capture /production of more slaves.

Great ethic decision.
