Sleepy

I thought I would make a short exploration trip, but once again I feel utterly bored. I begin scanning system after system, it is so slow to scan these objects. Then a system with 25 objects, oh well, this will take a while. Another with 44 objects, oops personal record I think and scan them. Then a system with 74 objects and I begin to get aaaaally bored, scan just the biggest star.

It seems that exploration reached the rank of utterly boredom for me, right after doing missions. Wings and Powerplay is not my thing, I suppose sooner or later I'll pass on Elite and play other games that aren't so boring and make me feel sleepy. Sorry for the rant. 8 months of playing Elite Dangerous and still a lifeless, boring galaxy. :p

You figured it out for yourself in the first paragraph. Don't scan everything. Look at the system map, if anything looks interesting such as a potential earth-like, water world, ammonia-world etc then scan those and move on. You'll soon figure out which bodies are worth something and which are worthless.

Yea, ED needs some changes to trading and exploring. While combat needs some attention, exploration and trading is something for autopilots. Repetetive, long-lasting, never-changing tasks.
It would be cool if exploration needs some attention as well and has some kind of skill demand or knowledge required. For example you scan a planet, it gives you some information "metallic core, active vulcans, etc." and you'd have to find out if it is terraformable by open a planet map and search for indicators or signs that support the prediction.

But currently it is: Jump-Scan1-Scan2x[amount of valueable objects]-jump-repeat
The only change in this is that you sometimes have to plot a route.

As said, traders and explorers are working like autopilots, tarders watch their profits, explorers watch some balls floating in space.

AS others have said, unless you are going to get a "1st found by" then just scan planets of value.

I must admit however there is so much potential for making exploration mechanically more interesting. It does seem fairly bare bones right now. That being said, in VR it can be quite relaxing, and on top of that have a good audiobook or music playlist lined up and it can be nice.

I am gearing up for a sag A visit "soon" and i shall be doing both of the above. That being said i believe the buckyball run ends today so I suppose there is no rush now i have missed that! :(

hopefully going forward we will have random chances of finding rare unique "stuff" out there but right now i do not think there is much,.
