Hello everyone,
I've just bought a second MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G, so I have two of these cards now.
The problem is, that the perfomance without SLI is quite the same or even a little bit better as with SLI activated when I'm using my Rift DK2.
For expample, with SLI activated and using the DK2 I get around 30 to 45 FPS inside the docking bay. Whit SLI deactivated and using the DK2 I get around 35 to 55 FPS inside the docking bay (high details with supersampling set to 1.5). MSI Afterburner shows me about 60% usage on the first GPU und about 50% usage on the second GPU. Without SLI GPU1 is at 99% and GPU2 is at 5%. I also made some tests before I've installed the second GPU and compared to the real single GPU setup, the FPS are quite the same with SLI.
But this only happens while using the DK2. When I'm playing on my monitor (without VR) SLI works very well and I get the expected performance boost with SLI. Afterburner shows me around 90% usage on both GPUs.
My hardware configuration:
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero (Z97)
CPU: i7 4790K
GPU: 2x MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (Kingston HyperX Predator Beast)
HDD: Samsung 850 Pro SSD
Current software:
Oculus Runtime 0.8
Steam VR
Elite Dangerous Horizons (actually 2.0.03)
Windows 10 64 Bit (no upgrade-version)
What I've already tried:
- Re-Installed nVidia drivers (removed the old ones first)
- Re-Installed Oculus Runtime
- Re-Installed SteamVR
- Installed actual beta-version of Steam VR
- Tried to install Oculus Runtime 0.5 and 0.6 (in both cases my graphics driver can't be loaded and also the Rift is not working respectively recognized). I've installed the runtime through compatibility mode and as admin. I've also tried the driver version 350.12 here, but that doesn't change anyting. No graphics card driver and no Rift here
- Tried to change SLI mode for ED, Steam VR Server and Steam itself (Tried mode 1, mode 2 and default mode)
I hope some of you guys can help me as I don't know what else I can do, expect of selling these two cards and to buy a 980 Ti. Or to wait for the CV1 and to hope, that FD brings back native Oculus support.
