Slingshot?

Hi, I´m quite new to Elite, but eventhough I played less than 10 hs, I´m amazed with its content and realism, or at least the feel that if we are going to populate space one day, it should be like it is shown to us in ED.

But, i would like to know if what I saw is a wrong idea of mine, or is ti actually working...
After dropping from hyperspeed I faced Chango, and found my Sidewinder (many times) increasing its speed a lot when flying tanget of a planet´s orbit at the moment I started getting to the shortest distance of it. Then it started to lower speed again. Was that a slingshot? Is that implemented? If no, what a pitty!
If yes... and after whispering can´t f..ing belive it, is there any document or post regarding physics and laws that rule ED´s worlds?

You probably want to read through their design proposal regarding supercruise.

Let's put it this way...supercruise is't even close to being finished yet.
