Slopey's BCP for Recording Trips Out

Hi,

I know that there are a number of 3rd Party Tools to keep track of trips out, but I just wondered how many fellow Explorers use BCP to keep a track of their trips, or is it just me?

Thanks & Regards

Currently, I don't use anything. I don't really care where I've been, only where I am at currently and where I am going (in a general sense) and how to get back. I wander from star to star, anything that looks interesting, all the while moving in the general direction I want to go.

Doing this, I see an absolutely huge number of systems where I can tell the original discoverer was just in a rush to some destination and only bothered to scan the main star. That's not exploration in my book and shouldn't net you any "firsts" but whatever.

I found this when I first set off and just couldn't understand it, it almost seemed someone was just having a race around the Galaxy, thankfully the further out I got the less of this was seen. Don't think I've seen any just Main Stars discovered for quite a while now :)

I always have Slopeys running, I always thought it would be nice to have a log, but the list is dull and I never used it.

Until a couple of days ago. I went down to the ns field at the bottom of the Galaxy for a nosey. I new the stars were thin, I could tell it was a bit if an island as I couldn't just plot a route into it. Anyway, it wasn't too hard to find a route in, and a couple of hours later decided to leave. No route up, left, right, forward or backward. I seemed a little stuck. Tried turning on the nav lines and hunting around the edge. 2 hours later, I am definitely stuck, and had just resigned myself to self destruct when I remembered Slopeys log.

Back through the log until approximately the time I entered. Search for the system, bingo, 250ly straight out to safety.

Hurrah for Slopeys!

I'll bare that in mind for future reference, as I currently just keep heading forward, but then I'm currently not exploring either the very top or bottom.

When you say "the list is dull and I never used it." What do you mean?
