Sloths!

Who doesn't love sloths! My partner worked in a zoo years ago that had a couple of sloths in their aviary/greenhouse exhibit (they can't be kept in open exhibits as they are slow motion escape artists), and the keepers played a constant game of ... where's the sloth today and what part of the exhibit did they destroy?

Sloths would be great. I think the issue may be that if they design an animal rig around a sloth, there's a very limited number of animals they can reuse/modify that rig for other animals. I hope that's not the case though as I'd really love them in.

Kind of like penguin animal rigs? How many flightless aquatic birds are there in the game?

the koala rig should work fairly well with sloths - just ... slow them way down and never have them come off the trees (except to poop).

Two basic kinds, I would love to see them in the sim. One of them swims. Nice piercing calls would be a great 6:00 a.m. wake up.

Right now? One... but there are many penguins that could be added at a later date; at least 17 species, compared to the sloth's 6... not that a lack of options for recycling a rig seems to matter; there's already several animals that have no obvious clone options...

Thank you for that answer to the question, yes, that's kind of of what I meant. Even though we have King Penguins, there are still requests for other species of penguins (same for otters). In most requests for sloths, it's "mostly" just the want of a sloth in general. I really doubt most people expect there would be two different species of sloth and 9 out of 10 of them would be happy with whichever one they chose, if they chose one at all. Also, sloths, while popular requests, were nowhere near as popular as otters and penguins. Or meerkats, if they come.

But hey, before anyone thinks I'm against sloths, by no means, They're very high up on my want list.

I think if you were going to do multiple penguins, I'd go for the fairy penguins or something as different as possible to the kings.

I'd like to have sloths but I think one problem for sloths could be that they climb many times hanging down from the trees, not above the trees like the big cats, bears and monkeys do in the game. If they are added to the game, they would need a completely new climbing system. I'm not sure if that amount of work for just one species is worthy.

PZ should introduce designable Large exhibits for smaller mammals like sloths and Tamandua

Big bump cause it gotta happen...

One question remains: If we ever get sloths, will Frontier go with the larger and far more common zoo sloth, the Linnaeus's two-toed sloth, or the more "iconic" brown-throated sloth? Or make a complete surprise by giving us the Hoffmann's two-toed sloth?

haha 🤷🏻‍♂️ Aren't those the two in the images? (As far as I could find...) - For me, as long as they put in these two faces we know.
I like the idea if they'd come up with "larger exhibits" for animals like these as well, then it might streamline development more and they can put in multiple.

I dont think a unique animal rig is holding back Frontier. Isn't the Binturong the only animal, that uses the "hanging down from its tail"-rig? Also they are creating more and more enrichment items that are only used by one or two species like the beaver dam, the hanging mock or the ibex hill. Maybe this could also be a way, to bring a sloth to game - giving it a special climbing structure where it will just stay for hours :-D

Exactly. If Frontier really wanted to add Sloths (or any other animal really) and would think it was worth to invest time into, they would find a way to implement them.

I remain unconvinced they’ll do all the unique coding needed for sloth but then again i said the same thing about the platypus

If we get sloth it's like if we get flying birds or fully aquatic animals it's like the red kangaroo he will need everything probably new mechanics although they can use koala rig and just make it much much slower but they will have to make the sloth stay on the tree almost all the time I mean That if we get it and put it in a habitat the first thing it will do after it enters the habitat is to climb a tree and I so hope to see a sloth in the future this is such a unique animal and it is also very popular zoo animal especially the Linnaeus and That's also the species I want most in the game though I would love to see any sloth that comes
