Small and insignificant

Hey,

Having played this game for nigh on a year now, I think I've finally put my finger on why I enjoy playing this game as much as I have.

It's because in this game, as opposed to all the other games I've played (and enjoyed), I'm so small, almost insignificant, a speck of dust. I love it. No matter what I do in the game, at some point that feeling will hit me.

That moment when I approach a ring around a humongous gas giant, just before dropping into the RES, when I can see the ring dissolving into little white dots and I realize there must be an unfathomable number of rocks there - it puts things in perspective.

So, FD thank you for making me feel small and insignificant!

Cheers,

I came into E/D right after obsessing on Crusader Kings 2 for months. The difference in scale from being this invisible God-like power that dominated everything, to being exactly what you describe was amazing. And it's for me as well a main reason I'm enjoying this game - it was one of the main reasons I loved the game back in the 80s as a schoolboy.

The beauty is that 5 months from now when you are filthy-rich and well equipped then the opposite is also true. You tend to stomp over everything in the particular system you jump into, if that's what it takes. You are damn near indestructible and invincible, provided that you played your cards right, that is (the 6 P's) :D
