Hey
With the release of the Supercruise Assist Module and the Advanced Docking Computer, I've been doing some thinking on the module sizes.
The above are both size 1 modules. Ditto for the Detailed Surface Scanner. Now the DSS I can understand - it's a piece of equipment after all. But the ADC and SAM? All the SAM does it set speed at 75% and then to zero when exiting hyperspace. At most it would be a couple of lines in the ship's computer's code. The ADC less so, but it still wouldn't warrant an entire module slot.
How about this: have a Subsystems slot, which takes up to e.g. five subsystems. The ADC the SAM and other tiny modules could be used in here.
Alternatively, make them all in-built, but the Commander has to subscribe in game to the software licences to use them (much like with IRL stuff like MS Office 365).
It just seems a bit unbalanced at the moment with the sizes of equipment which goes in a size 1 slot ranging from tiny to pretty large.
EDIT: Also with the changes to discovery some months back, there is now an in-built Discovery Scanner and FSS for detailed scans. These seem to require no space. It's all pretty inconsistent.
