Newcomer / Intro Small radar issue

Hi there, I start having an issue with a small round radar which is up and left from the large one. It shows position of your target (astronomical object, canister, ship etc) with a small blue point on it.
I tried to use it today as usual but it just doesn't show ships and small objects like cargo canisters. It shows astronomical objects like a star or nav beacon... Does anybody know why?

The small round 'radar' you refer to is your compass, & gives you your heading on whatever you have targeted. If your target is in front of you the circular dot shows solid. If it's hollow, then your target is behind you.

Well, because it's a different radar screen with a different purpose.

It never did show ships or other small objects. It shows things like nav beacons, stars, planets, and even your landing pad when you're docking (useful for those "hot" landings). The radar will show you ships and other small objects.
