Well, with the EX-Missiles as S2 mounts we are somewhat limited but let's look at what we CAN use.
The Cheap One (Base hull under 1 million)
- Adder: With 1 top mount it can fit 1 missile and with X2 utility points it can utilize both the experimental scanner AND chaff. Also, multicrew options.
- iEagle: Faster, a little more shield same hardpoint configuration but with only 1 utility point it's a little less flexible.
- Viper: The staple Viper with X2 mediums and X2 utility points it's a solid choice.
- Cobra MkIII: Well, it's the first ship to kill Thargoids 30 years ago with similar hardpoints to the Viper and pretty g fast so it's a clear YES for the puritan in me.
- Viper MkIV: Slower and more armored but has the hardpoints and utility slots for the job, speed might be an issue as well as maneuverability
- D.Scout: With the same hardpoint config as the Viper and X4 utility slots, good heat management and jump range it should do fairly well.
- Cobra MkIV: While hardpoints and utility slots are good the speed and maneuverability is not. Can armour tank pretty well though and Thargoids seem to skip module damage.
The Expensive Ones (+1 million base hull
- D.Explorer: With the capacity for X3 XE-missiles and X4 utility mounts combined with excellent jump range and space for a S4 shield this is a good choice.
- iCourier: On par with the D.Explorer in mounts and excellent shields and speed (while i find this ship horribly unbalanced with it's extreme shields it IS a solid choice).
- Vulture: Good shields and utility slots but it's price and jump range combined with oversized hardpoints compared to the weapons would make me pick something cheaper.
I would most likely pick a D.Explorer due to more internal slots and jump range over the iCourier, Or a Cobra MkIII. Going on the cheap i would choose an Adder over the iEagle due to the +1 utility point.
EDIT: Note, I do not expect these ships to take out Thargoids in 1 on 1 engagement but rather as a group or in a supporting role to larger ships.
