Smaller ships in VR... wow!

Decided to leave my Annie in the garage and took a Sidewinder out for a spin :D Wow! Suddenly feels like I'm flying a spaceship, that cockpit with the big open roof is great for situational awareness, had me twisting and turning like a fighter pilot.

If you've been in Elite a while before coming to VR, give the smaller ships a go again, great reason to go back to them.

Also in VR - you can see that they are not really small :) It's great fun getting into a Sidey and realising it's about the size of a small house.

This is why I'm quite enjoying Arena - the smaller ships cockpits are a blast.

My Asp is 15,000LY out from the bubble so I haven't got any opportunity to switch ships. :p

When I return to exploring (ie can't find a match in CQC), in my SRV, the Asp looks like the size of a small 3-storey office building... huge.

I wish every cockpit was closer to the Eagle. Also wish the Eagle was a bigger/more useful ship; I'd love to fly it more, but its just too small. While the Asp is clearly one of the most useful ships in the game, aesthetically I just hate the cockpit.

Have to agree. The cosy cockpits in Arena are great. Feels much more like you are one with the ship.

Definitely the Asp<grin>. But the thing about VR is that it really does make you feel like you are flying in different ships. The variety is great.

Vulture is my old/new favourite.
Almost as much visibility as a lakon ship and all the vulture goodness.

Also the cockpit is        g huge.

The Courier is probably my favourite to fly in VR, but I probably spend most of my time in the Cobra Mk3.

Love my Asp in VR. played with the Sidey in training mission for a hoot. Look forward to trying a bunch more when I get back from Sag A and my walkabout.

I've spent a lot of time recently in a Cobra MKIII with my Conda docked. The Cobra has sort of a cozy feel to it. I switched back to the Conda recently as I needed the extra cargo and jump range for some missions. While I really like a big ship.. there is something quite nice about fast smaller ships in VR. I'm thinking to deck out a Courier just for zooming about for data missions and some such.

Its funny - bought my first Conda yesterday - its surely impressive, and its bloody huge - you realise that even more in VR.

On the way to buy it at Diaguandra I sold my Python and bought a Sidey, and loved it in VR.

Going to get a Vulture soon and hit some RES - I reckon that will be a great VR experience

The clipper is amazing in VR as well, like flying a party bus with lights and disco!

This is true. The imperial courier is very nice too in VR. The sidewinder is nice though. The first time i sat in one in VR I feared that i hit my head on the roof/canopy. It makes you feel like you sit in a ship more than the clipper does.

Docking in VR is so quick and easy in the small ships with good visibility on the front belly of the ship (Asp, Vulture). Makes you feel like a hero pilot :)

I was watching Blind Pew the other day and he recommended trying out the enhanced thrusters on an eagle. I had my old freeagle docked in alliance space and have now jumped back into it. Can't wait to kit it out for maximum speed in VR. Its so cheap to insure also so you can go nuts in the cannons around Farseer inc.

Is it off topic to mention the lack of a boost head shake in VR? I really noticed it in the little eagle, unless you are right next to something you can't really "feel" the boost.
