Proposal Discussion Smugglers gizmo

Thought it was a bit of a cold affair when pulled outa super cruise to get scanned by the forces im presuming this is one of the areas that will be expanded upon as in some sort of contact but i was thinking would it not be good if you could buy a addon for your craft that could cloak any contraband and give off a false id but this item operates in the realm of chance it could fail and a little graphical representation would be cool on the dash of them scanning and your gizmo blocking just to add to thhe atmosphere and make you sweat a bit and of course the better gizmo you buy the better your chances.:rolleyes:

any thoughts?
 
I think some sort of black market upgrade for smugglers would be a good idea. Like a hidden compartment that would mean 10% of your hold would be unscannable, or something.
 
As an inveterate contrabandista, I'd think that such things might become available - once you'd made the right contacts.

Yeah that sounds a good but i recon you`d have to have the small chance of it being discovered and being treated more harshly for the offence for being a professional smuggler.

I was also wondering for those not smuggling or not cought doing so should recieve a few credits for the inconveniance of being pulled outa cruise aswell not too much just to sweet`n the expereance or fuel costs.

Eh? I know this is a game and all, but when was the last time, or any time, the cops pulled you over for nothing, then paid you for the inconvenience?

As an inveterate contrabandista, I'd think that such things might become available - once you'd made the right contacts.

Hello Folks!

Just a quick heads up. We are looking to get a sensor jammer module in at some point. Something along the lines of a device that can be activated to mask a ship's contents, using a very simple game play mechanism to determine effectiveness (ranging from an undetectable jam to failed, detected jam).

Providing that there is the chance it would fail and I like the idea of seeing the event unfold,,,Gal cops arrive start a scan your gizmo kicks in either by you pressing the function button to operate it or it works automatically...you watch as your gizmo display changes and you realise it has worked and you are left to continue on your way....or it doesn't and you arm weapons fire off a few rounds and run.......this could also be used to hide your details player ID from a bounty hunter or pirate or whatever may come snooping around.....it should also come at a price and hard to come by ....

I would like to ask you alpha testers a question concerning smuggling and the current build of the game. I cannot test it myself until 30th and I found nothing about it in the forum:

After you get pulled out of super cruise by a police ship, is it possible to AVOID / ESCAPE the scan? is there enough time to for example

.. getting out of range quick enough or
.. immediately use silent running and get away to avoid the scan?

Would be nice to know if there is a chance to get away smuggling illegals at the moment (without tools and upgrades planed in a later build of the game)...

I am sure that I read somewhere that a commander got pulled out of hyperspace and a scan was attempted but as they were at the edge of scanner range, they kept up their speed to get out of range so that the scan was unsuccessful and then they hyperspaced away eventually once they were no longer mass locked (they tried a couple of times).

I personally also would like the option to offer a bribe but you would not do that in the core systems, just the frontier ones etc.

Smuggling Compartments.

I also have had the misfortune of picking up some canisters thinking woohoo! i found some free stuff... only to be blown to space dust when entering a station... rage quit for a few days.

Got me to thinking about this topic and searching on the forums though, and also reading the book "Millenium Falcon" at the moment.

I thought a really cool thng as someone else mentioned would be smugglers compartments, that were not detectable by being scanned.. however i thought that if you have a history or reputation as a smuggler/bad sort then there is a chance you could have a boarding/visual inspection of your ship that could turn these up.
