Smuggling - how much do you make, excluding Shadow Deliveries?

Back when I had my Cobra fitted for smuggling runs, (Yes I mean normal everyday smuggling missions and not mission from Feru and the like) I was making about 1.5 to 2 mil an hour. I prefer it over combat in the smaller ships.

If you can find the right locations well within the bubble, they tend to be one or two jumps back and forth. My home system of Eotienses was very good at having smuggling mission that had you stay in system moving personal weapons and narcotics. When I did need to high wake, it was usually a one or two jump trip around the general area. Half my fleet came from just smuggling missions. Add to the fact pirates come after you with nearly every jump and it's easily the most fun you can have dealing with npcs. (That is until the AI broke and chaff became nothing but dead weight on your ship.)

No cheesing the system by leaving Open play and going to solo needed either. There was more than what my Cobra could carry most of the time around there.

Actually credits brings freedom to do anything I want ingame, was happy in the beginning flying a beat up Cobra, still happy with billions in the bank and the ability to purchase any upcoming content.

Each to their own, no need to feel sad.

And this of course - I enjoy the game MUCH more now I'm a billionaire, as I can try lots of things, loose an Anaconda or two, and not have to spend weeks grinding back the cash for a rebuy. Never thought I'd be a virtual slave trader in my spare time but needs must and so on ;)

Anyways - would like to keep this on topic :) Looking for a nice, reliable source of income that can be enjoyed by the bigger, slower ships. Smuggling seems to fit the bill, if only I could find a place to pick up good missions! The alternative of course is as Momoka Azuka suggest to do some non-mission smuggling, but I will leave that for a different thread ;)

Agree completely.

I'm pretty sad you guys think it's all about the money.
It won't bring you happiness.

But credits buy jet-skis. Have you ever seen someone frowning while on a jet-ski? I haven't.

Also, this. I'd be a lot more daring with my Anaconda in Open if the rebuy wouldn't absolutely crush my bank account. I'd also do more PvP, and try out more exotic builds.

"Try to frown while on a jet-ski. You can't.
They're so awesome, it's just throttle. People smile as they hit the pier.

Because you forget, you need gas to turn. It goes against your natural instincts.

Some of you aren't laughing; we all miss your cousin, but not laughing's not gonna bring him back.

He's dead for a reason. He was a show-off, and he tried to spray us."

Yes, being a billionaire is much more fun than being poor.

Personally I setup my long range operations out of one system; HIP 31666. It's not always great but it's within range of other similar type systems and since I'm working on Empire rep at the moment this is important as well. In addition to the Anaconda I keep a Clipper, Python, Asp, and a Cobra at the station so that my mission options are wide open. This way I can juggle between building local system reputation, naval rank and of course making money.

Honestly though, I'm disappointed with the lack of available missions for Anaconda+. I am hopeful that with the engineer patch some more consideration will be given to the "end game".

Purely a theory - Apparently we all share bulletin mission boards (even though we don't always see the same missions) I've noticed whenever I mention an area, after a while it goes dry. I have feeling we have a lot of silent lurkers on these boards..

Now I'm not 100% sure about it because Robigo get's hit the hardest, yet still seems consistent. Anyway, apart from Sothis last night I've been Canyon running in an Eagle all week, I'll check out my usual routes to see if they are still profitable... Would be a shame if something has caused them to die out.

I agree with this somewhat. I brought up Sothis a few days ago, and a lot of people responded with oh yeah I forgot about that place, will have to check it out again. Well for a few days after that the BB was dry as a bone. I used to be able to fill up 50-60m in about 20mins. And after I mentioned it, it took over an hour for several days after.

However yesterday, I filled up in 20 mins and even got one individual mission for 13.5m, I think thats the highest I've ever seen. So looks like that location was back to normal.

If you had to try and "rank" them, how do all of the long range hubs typically stack up against one another in terms of mission availability, type, and profitability? Rogbigo vs Fehu vs Aditi vs Sothis vs Maia, etc. The other week I flew a few hundred Ly out to Aditi and found basically nothing. I'd like to try and avoid those experiences if at all possible.

Havent been to some of the other locations for a while so tough for me to "rank" them, but I used to find they were mostly "shadow mission" focused, especially Robigo. I settled on Sothis a few weeks ago, because I can get a good mix of Shadow missions and "fail on ship destruction" missions there. I like the mix because if I were to get scanned I might lose 20m in Shadow missions, but still have 40m I can deliver (which dont fail on scan). I found Sothis to be the most effective at quickly filling up with these "safer" missions, and it still offers the Shadow missions for a 1/3 filler to increase profit potential.

I'm currently at Fehu in my Anaconda, and all I'm getting are large quantity delivery missions to outposts. I can't take anything. And because of how large the quantities are, not even bringing my Python out here would be worth it.

Aditi was also Baron. A waste of an evening really. I have maybe three mediocre missions to show for several hundred light-years of travel.

T9/Anaconda/Cutter - Maia/Fehu/Canopus - Minimum 60 million per run, Anaconda takes under an hour, T9 about an hour. Not purely smuggling, I use the extra space to pick up large bulk hauling missions. You need Horizons to make good money mission hauling with big ships

If I took slaves I'd be earning a lot more.

Lately I've found that I can't make nearly that much smuggling without stooping to doing lots if slavery missions. I'd sure like to know more about 777Driver's techniques in making that much while not resorting largely to slavery runs.
