Smuggling in 1.2

Friends!
The word is that there will be "changes in 1.2 to help smugglers"
i'm assuming this is in addition to the stolen goods payout in the black market.

i'm still 1400ly out from sol, coming back in from me last expedition.

i'd like this thread to function as an open discussion on how smuggling is working this patch - to figure out what's working, what's not, and what could be.

mostly so that by the time i get back in to town i can benefit from others fiddling with the new bits and enjoy a lucrative smuggling career off of your hard work.

BEN. I NEED YOU.

Well I don't think it's really changed much personally. Fine for stolen goods (and hopefully corresponding Rep loss) reduced, but at a price. If scanned, goods will be marked - unsellable even on BM.
Bottom line is it's barely any different : get scanned & you're out of pocket, just via a slightly different route.

The marked cargo feature is not coming out with this patch iirc.

There were too many issues with it, and it needs time to be ironed out.

there have been changes to the market information (possibly black market as well) information on the system map.
a small amount of demand has been added to all contraband to make it worth selling - though finding a good high demand station is still a thing.
how easy finding that demand will be is yet to be determined
marked cargo has been removed, true - but overall if smuggling doesn't cause you to bleed money i'd like to give it a go again.

How much does smuggling make?

I'm not bothered about being hated or the bounty on my head.

Smuggling currently makes the exact same profit as trading does with similarly prices commodities, as it uses the regular supply/demand system

What was actually changed we'll see in an hour

25% sounds almost too good when you smuggle high price commodities such as imperial slaves.

Buy at Ngaiawang for currently 15.3k each
Regular trade route sale price is 16.5k => 1200 cr/t

Now if the price is increased by 25%, that's more than 20k, and 5k cr/t

We'll have to test it. Technically it should be high and there should be a big risk/reward. It seems big but I doubt you'll find people smuggling in a T9 :)

Yes, let's test and have fun before jumping to conclusions :)

I recommend careful use of the forums ignore function because there are a lot of folk out there with plenty of opinions but without facts who can complain often but have very little that is positive or constructive to offer.

I'll fire up my T9 tonight .... okay maybe not :D

Distance, I think you are completely correct Sir.

What's that supposed to mean. Math isn't hard.

Don't forget as well it's 25% if you can find a system that has high demand for them.

No but you assume (or at least infer) that you get 25% more on all goods at all stations by making sweeping statements

If we can mine asteroids we should be allowed to capture people for selling as slaves.
.
How about requiring larger vessels to have employees like in Elite Frontier and escape capsules. If you kill a ship and capture the escape capsule you can sell the occupants lol

That is literally what Michael said in his post. Literally.

I'm not getting drawn into another of your circular "discussions" again, so we'll end it by saying. No it isn't.

If you read it again you will see the words 'up to' before 25%

Then you could read his next reply to Distance's question aswell, if you wanted to.
