Smuggling in powerplay, Ben Ryder (and others), report!

Other than all black markets openly advertising on system maps (which has seen such a backlash that hopefully it will be reworked into a 'you can see it once you've been to it' deal), has anything changed for the better this update?

How is the profit from buying legal goods such as tobacco to sell illegally elsewhere?

Have the mechanics changed at all? Is it still easy to just boost into a station in things as big as a python and not be noticed or does it finally require some silent running finesse?

Any other changes I have forgotten about?

Running some tests this weekend. Anyone out there able to join up to check out wings and a cunning plan. Will filed a report shortly and tests results for discussion sir. Salutes. Makes tea. Finishes smoke break and goes back to the real life grind.

I would assist you my good man, but alas, one is not blessed with Beta access. I shall however, drink (tea) to the success of your endeavours!

I also await your report, and am also infuriatingly unable to help test this.
something tells me it will be slightly better than nothing, but at least there's that.

It'll be late in the UK day when I haul myself out of bed in the US, but I'm happy to assist.
Assuming the wife hasn't made plans I don't yet know about of course ...

Smuggling seems to be a lot more tactical now; the new enforced 'speed limit' means guaranteed destruction if you clip something while boosting through the slot.

That said, I've had no problem dropping temps and coasting in with FA/Engines off in silent running - once you are in, you won't get scanned. It's become a much more measured act than just relying on speed and precision. Just make sure you create a macro to turn your engines back on again for those little emergencies ;)

Another note to add, some have mentioned that popping off a Chaff helps. Such nonsense! :)

Speaking as CEO of Chaff-Co, makers of fine quality sensor jamming chaff launchers since 2854, I must take exception to your statement.

Studies have shown that setting off a load of chaff when smuggling has no negative effects whatsoever. Indeed, chaff has hundreds of uses and many CMDR's around the galaxy use our product several times a day. We seldom hear complaints from any of our pilot federation brothers and sisters.

Beyond the battlefield, it is festive and often used to signal a victory in battle or just decorate a bleak sector of space with glittery strands of metallic fun. Chaff also has no calories or unsaturated fats plus it's kid safe ensuring hours and hours of enjoyment for the wee ones.

We take pride in our chaff manufacturing and I'm happy to send you a product sample along with our latest swimsuit calendar including 12% more chaff than last year.

When you think of chaff, think Chaff-Co.

Good to hear! I await your report in the morning ;)

Excellent! I much prefer silent running smuggling to the boost nonsense...

From personal research, chaff only foils player scans, not npcs, so it can be useful if there's a player cargo scanning everyone nearby, but it's otherwise useless.

It has a "chance" to foil security scans, it used to always foil any advanced scan but now it has a "chance" ...

Hello Chaps, I'm making solid coin in the Utopia systems. You'll need to take a different approach. A nod is a good as a wink to a blind man. Say na more say na more.

1. not really.

2. not much better than regular trading. (stick with bulletin board smuggling missions)

3. No, Just boost in the slot. Silent running is a waste of time and unreliable.

4. Don't think so.

How much is "solid coin" these days? I think I was getting around 480K a trip in the old Python last time I was making some money a few days ago.

I certainly do miss the two million a trip one hop routes...

Ben is just trying to recruit for his faction but realistically you will see a 50% profit when trading Illegal items in a Delaine controlled systems. This doesn't really amount to much for good trade route however since the fixes.

I see. I think I was getting about 1700/T. Is that about the max?

I got about 500 over average at a Delaine controlled station which I could have done better in the open market considering the return trip.
