Smuggling must be redone

Oh camon guys this is NOT ABOUT MISSIONS! - I totally agree that current illegal goods mechanics is no good, narcotics are the best example, you buying it very cheep , transporting to huge agro or industrial or corporate ( tought corpos would be junkies ;) worlds and there u getting less then for legal cargo, sometimes loose, this is super stupid and not logically

Ok I get it u cant sell slaves in not slavery worlds, but rest of it is just weird, need more examples: - weapon in worlds where it is illegal but they are in some kind of gun conflicts - why they are cheeper then in legal worlds ? Medicines - same thing , legal drugs ...

ok lets say that taxes stuff making this kind of smugling not profitable so much but then there should be a way to get illegal goods cheeper somewhere

an example: u buying drugs on the station where it is legal BUT u buing it on black market, without the TAX! so the price is way lower, then the only way is to sell it on the black market again, so u taking it to world where it is illegal, sell below market price on BM and still get better profit. This should be balanced with smuggling fines and maybe better logic in it as well ( cant sell illegal cargo in the station if been scanned , more security on you if u holding smuggling fines ), then adding missions like 'Need to deliver 300t of narcotics for some good price, higher smugler reputation better offers and higher security etc.

generally I think that allowing buying on black market , bit better logic for smuggler fines, some kind of smuggler reputation

- so on BM u can buy small quantities of non taxed goods, better smugler rep, higher caps and better prices, but higher security and fines as well
- new missions like Deliver 300 tons of illegal or non taxed goods, same higher smuggler rep higher offer and cap

quite kike that idea as it looks simple, maybe it is worth of separated threat ...

I think the pricing model is generally fine, but the way that you get to discover which black market is profitable is not. There is absolutely no way to know the specific demands of a black market until you try to sell a specific illegal or stolen commodity to them.

This is somewhat realistic in the sense that you wouldn't get to know the price of heroine by asking people in the nearest Starbucks, but once you have established good relations with the black market, why can't you extract information out of them?

The black markets of each system could have their own reputation meter and the more you fill them in, the more their commodities list becomes more transparent. If you reach the equivalent of allied to them, they could even provide rumors of other black markets that pay well, with some of the details left for the commander to discover. Like "we have heard that the black market of Hutton Orbital in Alpha Centauri has been a gold mine lately, but we don't have the exact information on what commodity they seek" or "we know that narcotics sell really well in some system close to Achenar, but don't have the exact location."

Right now, black markets that pay well for narcotics, slaves, etc do exist. It's not just the imperial slaves that make a healthy profit. But discovering them is always by chance and rarely is any feedback involved.

Two thumbs up :) And we need the classic bar scene , the typical den of scum and villainy where black market info and illegal dealings can take place.

I always thought the Black Market contact screen was a bit simplistic - and could have a lot more gameplay opportunities:
1. Being able to buy illegal goods on the black market
2. Better buy/sell prices available for players allied to a criminal faction
3. Possibly not even having access to a black market unless you are friendly/allied to a criminal faction (except when at a pirate station)

Smuggling missions should have never been delivery missions where you are just provided the goods. They should be fetch missions where you must find the illegal goods yourself.

Disagree.

I've been making a fortune on smuggling a lot of things other than slaves. Just ran algae and land mines of all things. And as far as calling it smuggling....it is pretty accurate. If I was an arms dealer, I would be arranging procurement of goods then moving them and selling them for my own profit. As a smuggler, I am being hired to transport someone else's illegal goods. Buying goods then selling them elsewhere is a dealer...I smuggle, very specific service for a fee.
