So 17.01 fixes a bunch of cosmetic issues, but doesn't address the left/right image VR descrepency?

I see a bunch of little things listed in the 17.01 update - but no one cared to address the BUG which causes different content in left vs right eyes of VR users?

Really?

Seems like someone simply made an "oops" in programming the 17.0 update which appears to feed contradictory models to the target scanner (left eye vs right eye).

VR Users get this in their face over and over. Not hard to reproduce at all. (Other VR issues with 17.0 as well - but this one seems always to be in your face). Headaches at best, nausea at worst. Seems someone made a programming error that should be pretty easy to fix (if anyone cared).

I feel particularly blessed that the devs spent the time to make "Various paintjob fixes and adjustments for some cosmetic items to make them look extra snazzy." ...but unfortunately couldn't find the time to fix what is clearly some sort of coding bug that is causing issues for all VR users? I'm betting its a mis-defined pointer or something in the 3D code...

I ONLY play Elite in VR and the ONLY thing I use my VR headset (Pimax Crystal) for is VR...

Guess I won't be commandering over the holidays.

Just sayin'...

Yeah, it's a shame they don't at least nurse along the code of VR in this game a little more.. to not understand it's one of the better VR experiences in gaming fullstop is pretty strange tbh.. the Thargoid Spire sites among others truly are a sight to behold.

Can't seem to find an issue tracker entry for this bug? The only one I found that could be it doesn't want to load for me.

Bugs are always pretty easy to fix, apparently - perhaps the AAA devs on the forum should send Frontier the code to fix it?

I only use my VR HMD for VR also.

Maybe the next update will have a fix? I doubt it though, given the rearrangements going on in FD currently.

ETA: Sorry, my SOH is off a bit today... I know your VR comment was a typo...

What else would you use a VR headset for if not VR?

Short answer: monitor/TV replacement.

I use my Quest 3 to watch 4K & 1080p films using an app called Skybox which plonks me in the best seat of a huge cinema - back when I got my Quest 2 it replaced my 3DTV as my preferred method of watching movies, and now I even forego some real cinema visits for films I want to experience without the sounds of people noisily eating/checking their phones/having a chat etc.

There’s also the new Xbox cloud gaming app to allow the HMD to be used as a virtual flatscreen to play the Game Pass library.

I noticed this problem with VR after last update, the target 3d model was fine for left eye, but my ship model was shown in right eye. Really frustrating. However, going to graphics settings I noticed my settings were changed, and AMD upscale was enabled, I have Nvidia. So I turned that off and reset to VR Ultra and the problem went away. In fact, everything looked a lot better.

Try that, check you settings, especially the upscale settings, and make sure things did not go amok with the last update.

The issue is related to upscaling though for some players it is solved by switching it off, and for some it is solved by switching it on.

If I have upscaling off the left HUD element is no longer problematic but the landing radar becomes a double image, though not as bad as the LH HUD image. Upscaling on gives a good landing radar but duff LH HUD.

There definitely is not much concern for VR at Frontier, and QA is probably minimal. Seeing the ship in the hangar fixed for VR after a two year progress of updates is about the total of it. If they just fix the lighting system so I stop seeing the sun shining through my ship with myself and seat floating in mid air on the dash board or driving my SRV and see myself and seat only as shadow on planet surface (no shadow from SRV), I'd be very happy.

The planets texture variation is great, but the lighting for mid to far orbits means I never get to see it because it is too dark, even with gamma maxed. And the surface scanning system also being impacted by lighting where you can't see the ground probed is so, well, silly.

But I keep going because, well, it still works in VR so far, knock wood. Might be no love for it by developers, but it is what keeps me coming back to it.

there are no devs left who can fix it.
FDEV is nearly bust no chance for any expectations maybe they will survive with smaller theme park developments.
