So, a NPC just combat logged on me ...

Despite all my NPC hate posts, I find this one really funny.

I was following a T7's wake because I need some materials. He dropped near a planet as he was too close. So I followed him in my RNGineer Anaconda to get his ship parts.
Upon dropping out of supercruise, he appeared right next to me.

Deploy hardpoints! I got 5 PAs for you!

The second after that he just disappeared. Just like combat loggers that exit the game when getting interdicted this NPC did the same. He literally disappeared like every other combater logger on my journey.
Why does this game prevents us from blowing stuff up? :D

Come back! Should I send a combat logging report? :p

The interesting part for this would be, in which mode were you playing? Solo, Private Group or Open?
.
If it's Solo it's an interesting bug. In either of the other cases, what you describe is a result from the games P2P architecture. The NPC was controlled by some other client and he might have quit the game or the connection just might have run into problems. This happens far more often than you could think.
.
As a sidenote, I also believe that reports of combat loggers are quite often wrong. Those people did not log out, you just ran into network problems. Some time ago I did some sparing with a few friends, and we several times had the effect that one of us suddenly was invisible to other people in the instance. So for example for one fight I was watching, both players claimed victory as the other one obviously logged out in combat. Luckily I was along and I still was able to see both of them, flying around me and declaring that the other one logged out.
.
So matter of fact, two people experienced "combat logging", while neither of them did so, it's just an effect of the P2P infrastructure and it's low reliability. As in many other fights no neutral witness is along, all people are able to see is that the other player disappeared and conclude that he was combat logging, despite they actually just experience an easily predictable consequence of Frontier saving a few bucks on their infrastructure.

Your reputation precedes you. "Oh no it's that Crimson Kaim bloke again!"
