So, about those NPC fighter pilots...

So I've had my fighter pilot for quite some time now, her back story is that she cut her teeth in Dropships during the Lugh war. I thought that was pretty cool because my buddy and I did a similar thing way back in the day, albeit in poorly equiped Vultures.
She's now made it to Dangerous rank (I'm Elite) and this evening I sat idle in a Haz-Res bounty hunting for a CG. She was flitting around in the fighter on defence mode when we were intercepted by a wing of (2) Vultures.
Much to my surprise, she took both of them on and won... I simply sat and watched from the bridge of my Corvette in utter amazement. The NPC fighter pilot effectively used chaff and heat sinks and killed a Deadly and Master Vulture without losing the Fighter its self.

That's pretty impressive if I do say so. The fighter pilots are hot garbage when you pick them up, but after a couple ranks, they certainly seem to find their feet.

I let mine loose in the corvette while I mess around in the fighter, the only change I'd make is the ability to tell them not to waste kinetics on shields.

I'm not sure I am keen enough to let her loose in a 30,000,000cr liability just yet :p
I have engineered multi's with incendiary ammunition, so shields aren't a concern.

I have to agree, I never let my pilot fly my corvette, seen too many videos of npc crew crashing the mothership into asteroids and or a planet surface.

Give it a bash, honestly it's fun once they are expert or over. I just tag targets for the mothership to destroy and snipe at modules. If you have any force shell cannons you can see just how much they throw ships around when you come in from the side and your NPC whacks them with one.

I do keep a close eye on the shields though, in case I need to switch roles and save myself a rebuy.

Which fighter was she in and what weapons? I find that the kinetics and plasmas are mostly good for skilled human pilots. And how did she used both chaff and heatsinks? Fighters only get one or the other.

Two different fighters.

F63 Condor. Fixed multi-cannons.

I have gotten lately my first Elite NPC crewmate and it has taken a lot of hours of aurhority kill (cause mostly elites) to get her to the final rank.
She is so tough now, but i would still never let her fly my ship itself. I don't mind loosing the ship. I don't give a cookie about those 40mil rebuy but taken her to Elite has taken ages and i think i will never get another one to this rank again.
Loosing her would be the worst thing that could happen to me in the game right now [haha]

I find giving the NPC control of the main ship is the fastest way to rank them up. Unless your mothership is super fragile, it would be a real challenge to lose it after the first few ranks against NPCs.

I even take command of SLFs myself in PvP, if the situation warrants it, and have sometimes been able to use the NPC, flying the mothership, to very good effect against CMDRs. It's sensor icon is indistinguishable from other NPC clutter, so they can often catch people off guard, especially if they aren't sure what ship my SLF came from.

I haven't had any problems with them on the Helm of the Vette.

I mainly like flying the fighters.

That's my goto SLF as well. From your Op, it sounded like she took on two Vultures at the same time and used both chaff and heat sink. The MC version of the condor only comes with chaff iirc. Was this 2v1? Or 1v1 + 1v1 with two different versions of the condor?
