Something has broken Bookmarks. Not entirely but any bookmark that was set to a Station, Fleet Carrier, Planet, Ring or surface POI has been reset to only point to the System. So, I click my Bookmark for Jameson Memorial in the Shinrarta Dezhra system and it just takes me to the System, I then have to manually select the Station. Same for other locations.
I assumed this was a bug that could be fixed, but I'm not so sure now. I think our existing Bookmarks have been somehow overwritten meaning they cannot be recovered. As a test I set up a new Bookmark for Jameson Memorial (clunkier than it used to be) and this new Bookmark works. So, have we really got to go through ALL of our Bookmarks and create them in again just to be able to plot a full route to our destination? I bloody hope not!
Adding to this, the new Bookmark manager is, well, not great. I add new (old) destinations and go to edit them and it clears the name. I'd pretty much always use the default name as a base for my edit, prefixing it things like "Engineer" for Engineer bases, "BH" for good Bounty-hunting locations, you get the idea. That small, but oh so convenient feature is now gone. Also, why can't we just edit bookmarks directly like before? When in the System view it was a really simple matter to see all System-wide bookmarks and edit them, now we have to go to a separate list, manually find the bookmark among ALL bookmarks of that category and edit it. We know ED has grind, but adding grind to Bookmark management too? lol.
Are others having bookmark issues? Are you having to create New Bookmarks to replace those that have been overwritten? My understanding was that this issue was reported during the Alpha, but has made it through to the Beta aka "release" version of the update & DLC.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but are there any benefits that come with the Bookmark changes? Perhaps we can have thousands now, which would doubtless be useful to some people, but it needs to be a darn good improvement to counter this issue, in my view.
You know, I've not really touched the on-foot gameplay yet, other than walking around my ship and wandering into a Station lounge area. I don't really want to either, until the original game content is working better.
Edit: I take it back. My newly-created Jameson Memorial Bookmark seemed to work, but no, it has the exact same issue. I thought it worked as the Station appeared to be selected in the Map view, whereas it wasn't when using my original Bookmark. However, it still just takes me to the System, not the Station. Hopefully this means it can be fixed.
