So appreciative of Frontier right now

If the adventures we are able to get involved in, the interaction with NPCs and exploration in this game are all as good as everything else we have seen so far, then the game is a masterpiece.

And I don't doubt that FD will do it.

Then we have years of expansions to look forward to :D

I still have the manual, but the short story book has long since gone missing. The only ones I can remember even vaguely are one about an Empire spy, and one about a Captain Jupiter getting stuck in a religious hellhole of a system with a hold full of (illegal) live animals.

I loved those stories. The First Encounters ones were good too. I haven't read them for years! I remember one about people partying and drinking some kind of drug that was like an acid that burned their throat. They would do anything to their bodies because every night they would go back to their hotel, climb into their 'shower' and be minced up by whirring blades and reconstituted into a new clone complete with their memories from the night before. Awesome.

The Ship information was good too. It read like it was some kind of salesman if I remember correctly. Full of quips and humour.

Sorry for the thread hijack!

I remember this story as it was my favourite..

I believe it was called 'The Wrong Side of the Law' or something very close.

The bad mood killer strikes again. Will have to go and be grumpy somewhere else then. Onward the Foundation! I mean Frontier! :)

That's pretty damn dark!

I have been on and off these forums since 2006 looking for some sort of Elite news, I can honestly say that I never thought the day would actually happen, where by a new Elite game would be announced, let a lone be able to log into the Beta and play.

Here we are in 2014 and Elite Dangerous is real and not vapourware.

So I too am grateful to David and his team at Frontier, for finally delivering on his dreams.

Got to say that I am well impressed with ED at the moment, be even more so when more of the bugs get squashed. Can't wait for some of the new content in the later betas.

Hope that SC improves as well though, watched the comparison video and my thought was OMG that looks poor - actually reminds me of X (albeit with better graphics), but having worse controls .. ..

When something new is revealed it is always a Wowzer and they haven't failed to disappoint yet.

Its the British way! and long may it continue. :)

Underpromise and overdeliver. As a Nordic chap, I can appreciate this understated style very much indeed.

Also... it's kind of the polar opposite of the constant hype from a certain American frenemy of ours *innocent look*

You mean he of the confused accent? Yeah it's interesting to contrast the style of the two glorious leaders; it seems that one's become the consummate showman, while the other is truly blossoming into an unfettered artist at the peak of his powers. ED excites me more than any computer game ever has...
