No point really. Whether you can equip them or not, they only work with the flight suit which has been made useless in Odyssey by the other 3 vastly superior suits. So whether they deleted them or make them functional again, it won't matter in 99% of the game unless you're taking vanity screen shots inside your cockpit.
Not sure how they thought this was "ok" making all the money people spent on clothing wasted, and reducing the diversity of possible appearances now that we could have finally shown it off.

Fair enough, but if the skins/items are deleted, the ARX spent on them should be refunded. Otherwise expect people never to spend ARX again. I doubt this is in Frontier's interest.
Its for the social spaces, which is where you will meet most people anyway.

Cosmetics are inherently pointless, and the only function is to look the way you want. But Frontier made the business decision to make the old clothes incompatible with the new required suits for Odyssey, obviously so they can sell new cosmetics.
This would be like Apple making your old music collection incompatible with your new iphone so that you either had to buy a whole new music collection or listen to the same 5 free songs that came with the phone over and over again.
Most likely a bug.
They will likely fix that at some point as well.
Not quite, you can still use the old customization options/listen to the old songs in your comparison.
It's more like you had a collection of 8bit sound files and the new player now also supports 16bit. You could still listen to the old ones, but you'd rather have new 16bit audio files.
But overall, I'm not really defending Frontier here. I think these skins for a full price expansion are incredibly expensive. Obfuscating real costs with in-game currency you have to buy in packs was another low blow and certainly changed how I view Frontier as a company.
I was able to recover my previously purchased items over my flight suit only.
Swapping to your flight suit every time you hit the station to socialize would be almost as annoying as speccing a whole separate ship just for AX, which is why I gave up on Thargoid content too. It's not just that Frontier is trying to manipulate me into buying (hideous) new cosmetics, it's that they're making it really annoying to look how I already wanted to look, and already paid good money to look.
Plus they have a vast array of decent suit cosmetics they are just throwing out the window for new players.
I remember loudouts to be a selectable dropdown from the same screen you disembark from...
What is the purpose of equipping the flight suit in Odyssey? Vanity? Granted, the whole thread is silly and about vanity, but bottom line I'm not going to fiddle with menus over it. I just won't bother with cosmetics anymore since they are already in the habit of making them obsolete.
