You can estimate how large the star is by looking at the size of the granules on the surface. The granules on this star are quite small which means the star is at least a few dozen Ls wide. Just compare them to the granules on the small companion star!!
 
I love stars like this, I actively hunt them down now. If anyone is near the core a trip down a good way will result in finding this system (name can be grabbed from the video).

I landed on this carbon star with about a tonne of fuel left in the main tank, it was of course a risk but I figured even if the secondary star was 500k ls away I'd have ample time to reach it an scoop. I didn't expect the polar opposite...
