So, Bounties you've earned are tied to the ship right?

Forgive me if my memory is bad!

From what I gather, bounties you earn, are tied to the ships' computer. Ergo, when the ship is destroyed, any bounties you've not claimed vanish. Okay, I don't have an issue with this mechanic and it appears that's how it has always been.

Interestingly, I bought an Adder in addition to my viper to do a bit of trading rather than face-melting, and realised i can still claim the bounties I earned in my Viper, in my Adder.

Do we just assume (with a little handwavium?), that when you switch ships, you upload the bounties to your new ship - or is this a bug? :)

Hope you're having fun, Commanders!

Mmmm I am pretty sure cartographic data does the same thing, as I sold some data from my Type6 which doesn't even have a scanner...

Not much help to you Kicks, but just thought it worth a mention. :D

i suppose its the difference between bailing out in a hurry when you die and slowly walking away when you swap ships, the former doesn't give you time to transfer the data while the latter does.

A bit of head cannon...

So the bounties are stored in the ships computer log.
When you dock, you are partnering your computer log with the stations, and uploading the data there.
That is how you claim the bounties... the data is already there in the station after you dock, but you just need to click that confirm button.
If you choose not to, then when you launch, it deletes the information from the stations computer, ready to receive new information for when you next dock (I suppose it doesn't keep the information, as the station's systems only have so much memory to hold data for all players and NPC's... so you could say you get a temporary space on the stations servers).

So with that in mind, when you buy a ship from the station you are docked at, the information that was uploaded to the station, synchronizes with the new ships computer. So all bounties/ cartograhics are downloaded there.

When you leave the station in your new ship, the data acts the same as if you were in your old ship. It is downloaded to your ships computer and the information on the stations computer is deleted.

Okay, I just imagined my Commander climbing out of one ship with a bunch of hard drives in his hand, with IDE cables dangling around his Remlok, then climbing into the other and stuffing them into the open sockets...

By that logic, however, if you are simply swapping ships, then your stored ship will have a backup of those bounties after you die, up to the point at which you swapped. Just sayin'. :)
