So close, can't plot route home

Been exploring near core of galaxy and got back to the Sifi sector on our arm of the galaxy and can't plot any route. Pretty sure I could get across before, did they change anything in galaxy map?:S

Try again in a bit - they're updating at the mo (I got the 5 minute warning a couple of minutes ago). Couple of exploration specific updates:

Hi everyone,

Powerplay update 1.3.04 is incoming at around 11:30am (BST).

Client change log:
- Fixed hard lock caused by galaxy map search

- Various stellar forge server optimisations

Server change log:

- Various exploration data reliability improvements

There is a large zone in the NE of the galaxy where the mouse does not work on the galaxy map, you have to use the keyboard.
I dont think I could write a bug like that if I tried.

I had a similar problem just south of Barnards Loop lately. I was trying to go a certain destination, and all I got was "route unavailable". So I tried some systems a bit closer which worked fine, and then did the last jumps "the old way" (manually).

I believe when stars are getting pretty sparse, that the route planner is trying to go in the straightest line possible towards your destination. When confronted with a route that makes it go a bit "back" it flips out and refuses to comply.
Other thoughts on this is appreciated.

It's been acting odd for a couple of updates. I have been plotting fast route and have a 34ly jump range but it is plotting around the 20ly for some reason, used to plot at max range for my jump range, odd.

Back in 1.2 in one of my first exploration missions I went down quite a long way close to the bubble, and when trying to get back up I found the plotter wouldn't work. Travelling a shorter route up and then retrying eventually worked. Given I had exactly the same ship going up and down something quirky was happening.

I cam back via SIFI with no problems. Was about +75 on the galactic plane, had thee discovered's in a row so went up +200 and still had no issues. Only advice is go up or down one jump at a time until it gives you a route.

I had the same problem returning from Epsilon Orionis. About 60Ly prior to getting there is a large gap in the stars that you have to go up and over to get around. The only way to get the route planner to do it was to manually start the plot in economy mode, then watch where the little blue lines say it thinks you can go. Plot a manual route on the way you think makes sense and then, as it populates the blue lines further, it should allow you to continue.
.
I only experienced this after they made the changes that shaped the stars we see when viewing large areas on the Galaxy Map into a sphere rather than the previous cube.

Thanks for the advice guys but had an accident:eek:. Jumped into a binary system and was sandwiched between two close stars, by the time I got out I had a breached canopy with 10 minutes air, needless to say that was the end of my journey. I can't believe I travelled 25, 000lys without a scratch and fall at the last hurdle. Needless to say I'll won't be exploring for a while.

I'm lost for words, mate. That is really sad. I understand your pain, and the resentment of going out there again. Especially with the latest "tag" bug. Try to have fun in civilization.
I truly hope the "bug" will get you again.

Yes I got a list but finding it hard to get the motivation to go back out there, give a couple of weeks of trading and then I might get back out there. Safe Travels cmdrs.
