I have been supporting the xbox for allmost 15 yeas back. all the way back to 2001. I have spend money on more than 250 games, been a gold member all days. When i saw elite on the kickstarter, i backed the game knowing i could not play it on the pc(dont have one) but hoping for a console xbox release some day.. The day has come, the game is FINALLY here, i can allmost feel it... Only to get slammed in the head"oh sorry we at the Microsoft forgot to mention that you must be part of the xbox game preview program, but we have decided to invite a 12 year old kid who just got his very first xbox, instead of you. You have been Paying for this party for so long... You are still not invited.." ! This is really sad, i mean how and what do i have to do, to be part of the fun. None of my few Living friend has it, and since the only way to get in is invite by a friend, then what should i do, what can i do. I am like 31 years old but now i really feel like the kid who looks at the other kids having fun...
I am happy for you guys who can actually play this Masterpiece of a game, i wish i could join you. Elite dangerous is the only true game i ever wanted, that and space engineers. I mean space games the best genre ever..
anyway sorry about my frustration, i just had to vent it.😥

You don't need to be in the Preview Program to play it, only to test Backwards Compatibilty and whatnot. You need to scan the Xbox Store on your console and you'll find Elite Dangerous (Game Preview). There is a new category (like Coming Soon, New, those kinds of categories) called Game Previews.

Hiya. I'm not part of the preview program, but I was able to purchase/download the game no problem. I logged into my Xbox account on line, searched for Elite Dangerous and purchased it. It was there next time I turned it on (but took ages to download - damn my slow internet).

Also, if people want to join the Xbox LIVE Preview Program (to test Backwards Compatibilty, Cortana, and everything else they let us test), you can message me or even send a friend request (I'd prefer a message that asks, via my Xbox LIVE profile/GT). :)

Hm, offtopic. - I'm on PC so feel free to ignore this.

It's just... I have so many buttons configured on the keyboard, I can't imagine how you can do anything similar on the console. It's not as bad as the X series was, but very damn close to it.

Anyhow, good luck. The game IS awesome. Ignore the whiners here - there are a couple of bugs, yes, but you can work around them until they get fixed; it's still early days, especially for the console.

Yeah, it is a bit more difficult. I've always used an x-box controller though so it's not too bad. You have to do a bit of holding the buttons to get different options pop up (a bit like using a shift key, then buttons have secondary uses). If only the Kinect operated like voice attack....sigh......

Game is not available in some stores yet. Few more days and we can buy it as well.
