So CQC is going to be Federal and in Federal space, so what about the Empire?

So reading the latest GalNet news Hudson is creating the CQC games, mainly to train it's pilots in war to help oppose the expansion of the Empire.

So - what happens if your an Imperial pilot? I for one won't travel to Federal space to take part in a Federal event - not that I could see the Federation even wanting me there.

Not wishing to split the player base before it's even begun - but shouldn't the Empire 'Respond' with opening it's own Gladiator area, for exactly the same reason?

To be fair the Alliance would need one as well, Umm bit of a problem here!

I do hope that getting into CQC won't happen via an entry in the main menu, but rather by flying to specific places that host these tournaments.

I though CQC was entirely separate so location doesn't matter. I thought it was created so that the in and out game style of the console players could be tapped into without them having to learn the complex game mechanics.

Just found out it will be a separate mode, a bit like the current training missions on the Mac / PC.

A pity really - would have been nice to be able to fly to it and take part in your own factions space, but the design is sound I suppose, we can't have a massive divided player base or no one will be able to get into a game.

Ah well, it's a moot point at this time, we won't get to play it until Christmas anyway! ;(

Two ships enter, one ship leaves.

Only enter the arena with what you can afford to loose.

FEDS play games, IMPS do it better.

I strongly expect that the Imperial Fighter will be added at a later point, and the current lineup (Condor, Sidewinder, Eagle, Viper) is just the start.

Technically you could interpret that negatively. Since pirates are better at all things, that includes all the bad ones too
