So Dinosaurs don't actually visibly

The topic tiitle should say Dinosaurs don't actually visibly show aging.

But they do show visible signs of illness as they get sicker and closer to death. It's not aging but it still pretty cool. Also the other really great thing is that we have confirmation that the Dinosaurs will flee from ACU vehicles and they will also chase them. Now it isn't completely destroying the vehicle and killing the ACU team but I can live with that. It's fine in IMO.

Thankfully BIS cleared a lot of this up through contact with Frontier.

Nice to see a positive post from him. I found the last few was him nitpicking. Though I am sure that's what bringing in the views.

Aging visibility was not very important... the dinos can live for many years. I don’t know the time speed in game but I doubt i could be useful or just fun to see that.
But... the invincibility of vehicules is really a strange choice... so the dinos ‘ll chase the vehicules? Ok but i’ts totally useless. There’s no fun at all to see a rex chasing a vehicule if you know there’s nothing to fear.

(Sorry for my English... I usually speak French)

I wasn't too bothered by the talk of visible aging. Mainly because I don't know how that could be showed visually.

Like in JPOG, you can't grow your dinosaurs from infancy, to Adolescence, to Adulthood.
They are simply released from the hatchery as full grown adults.

Apart from the Dino Menu telling us, the only way to tell your dinosaur is elderly,
is if they start moving slower than they used to do (or, at the very least, gain duller colors.)

But, again. All technical issues can be fixed via patches and updates.

I know its to show illness but the dynamics required are there...that raggy look really does give the impression of aging. Tbh I cant see the struggle in distinguishing between ill and old, I think most people will remember the colour of their dinos and if they dont a quick scan over will reveal if just old or ill (shown by being pale). I think they could just use the system by keeping the dinos colour but develop the raggy look over time. Not something thatll happen for launch or ever but as a wishful thinking half the dynamics are there, just needs to programming to allow it.

Perhaps as the dinos age, they will be sick more often so you get an indirect effect of aging that way. That remains to be seen but (did I understand correctly that battle scars will persist?) an accumulation of scars is an indicator of age too, and would give that grizzled look of age. I think this will turn out fine.

For interest, mentioning my experience with zoo animals and especially birds again, creatures tend to disguise sickness as best they can, so they don't appear easy pickings to a predator. Rule of thumb (with modern day birds) is as soon as you can see signs of illness they're already 90% dead, too weak to hide their weakness.
