So, don't take a Skimmer job from a station owned by the target faction...

Today I learned, that sometimes you spend an hour or two muddling blindly through a Sentry Skimmer / base assault...

...only to return triumphant to the issuing station only to find the station is owned by the faction you were sent after, you're now considered Wanted and Hostile, and you're not welcome to turn in the mission.

Also, stations have reverberating cascade guns. Didn't know that.

Maybe it was an inside job, and you've been double crossed. But yes, Logic sometimes isn't Elite's strongest point.

I so feel like some duped Firefly 'verse captain. Absolutely double-crossed. I bet they're laughing their asses off. They got the Skimmers destroyed and don't have to pay me.

I am going to kill them in their sleep.

d8veh, Wanted would be fine. Hostile... less so. The station itself fires on me immediately, no scan required. I'm told I won't be given docking permission and then I'm shot at with guns that immediately hit my shield generator (reverberating cascade). I ain't welcome there.

And of course, while Wanted will vanish in a week, Hostile is potentially forever.

I'll see if there are other stations in the system with this faction as non-controlling but present, then sneak in under Wanted and try to find ways to build my reputation back. Probably can't take missions for them, though, and I don't think the system has RES sites. Kind of curious if there's any way back from this, so I'll investigate. Anyone know?

Over time that Hostile rep will drift back up to Neutral on its own.... as long as you don't continue to aggravate them. Likewise, Allied slowly drifts down to Neutral if you don't keep helping them out.

You dont have to kill the factions skimmers, just any withion 60km of teh target base.

Also when you target skimmer it will tell you if its wanted - ie. kill it with no bounty on your head, or not (the latter you can kill if the faction that owns it isn't like your scenario).

If you are worried about losing your ship, go to another station buy a Sidey and try sneaking in, you woint lose the mission if you do get shot and killed.
