Thank you FDEV for the time and effort you have put into this update! +Rep!
I only got to mess about for around an hour today but so far I like what I have come across.
While sitting in a station I goofed around with the station services menus and enjoyed the new little tweaks. Like the Commodities Market seems to scroll smoother and the purchase interface is a little friendlier to me. Peeking in on the Engineers icon and looking around I noticed that there is a bit of bio on each engineer that I don't recall seeing before. Nice touch! I really like the new Inventory screen and the expanded limits. I thought the new limits were going to be 100 each but I was surprised to see some that are much more than that.
The mission board was pretty interesting too with the new offerings. I will for sure get into those heavier in the future.
There were other niceties that escape me at the moment (play time was a couple of hours ago) but nothing I saw gave me a negative feeling.
But I wanted to see a planet so I launched and orbited the first planet I saw, which was outside Meech Dock in the Cemiess system. Low and behold it was a beautiful, multi colored world full of red and whitish patches among other colors. I wish I had taken a screenshot from orbit but instead I zeroed in on a reddish patch and dove in for a landing.
What a nice rust/red color on the surface!
While cruising around it seemed at first that the SRV was handling better. It has really been quite a while since I went driving but then I realized that I was on a 1.2G world and that was probably the reason for my mountain goat-like traction. Nonetheless I was having fun! The scanner was picking up stuff left and right and I fully enjoyed not having to pick and choose what I was picking up. The new mat limits give you lots of room to spare. And the mat count notification to the left upon pickup is a nice touch too.
Anyway, I had a good time today even though my play window was short. There will be plenty of time in the future to see new things and relearn old ones.
Thanks again FDEV! You all rock!!
